All good, you are correct that it has lost a lot of popularity...used to get 3-4 tables on the weekend and now only 1. Doesn't run on weekdays any longer.

I calculated the odds at 93.6% that one of the top 8 teams will win the championship based on the odds linked below. Is this right?
https://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/futures/

I added up the denominators of all of the fractional odds and arrived at 1501.5. Then I added up the denominators of just the top 8 team's fractional odds and arrived at 95.5. Then I subtracted the total of the top 8 teams from the total (1501.5) and got 1406. Then I divided 1406 into 1501.5 and got 93.6%. I think this math is correct.

Also, does anyone know of any teams that were not top 8 in the power rankings at the season start who ended up winning the SB? 2007 Giants is all I can think of, but I'm sure there are others.
sir this is a wendys

I’ve been up to Blackhawk several times in the past couple months and have been frustrated with the lack of predictability for getting an Omaha game going. Any ideas on how to get something set up on a more regular/predictable basis? For example, Wednesdays as PLO day or something to that effect.

So I was playing in a 1-3 NL game at Bally's on Saturday, and sadly, my QQQQ was beaten by a K high straight flush. Unfortunately, we were playing in the only poker room in Blackhawk that does not have a bad beat. Thankfully, we both won whatever the Monte Carlo payouts were for our hands.

Has anyone ever experienced a worse bad beat than that?

Just for reference, I started playing live poker in August of 2004, and average about 80 days per year. I hit my first bad beat in February of 2017 when my KKKK beat AAAKK for $9K. It took 12.5 years to get that first one out of the way. Then it took 4.5 years for me to hit another hand that would qualify for a bad beat on 9/11/2021. So 2 bad beat hands in 17 years.

Would you say 2 bad beat qualifiers falls within expected variance of playing 17 years?

In 8 years of dealing 40 hrs/week, I dealt 2 hands that would qualify for a bad beat. One was quads over quads (both players had pocket pair) and one was straight flush over straight flush (both players had suited connectors). Both were dealt in a room that had no bad beat jackpot.

Two bad beats over 17 years playing seems to fall in the expected range.

I'm likely moving to CO soon. How are the games here in general, and are any of the casinos better than the others? I'm a predominantly 1/3 player, but I'll dabble in 2/5 every now and then.

Monarch is the best room right now. Ameristar gets good action too, but their staff sucks and it’s dark and dingy in there.

Welcome!

I don't go up much, but in addition to what Jstarda wrote, Bally's (the old Golden Gates) is the tournament room, if you're interested in that.

Thanks J.E.

I haven't been to Monarch yet (mostly because I'd feel like a sellout leaving Bally's) but Bally's has had very juicylicous action since Colorado went no limit. Players are going bonkers losing their future retirement funds. It's quite incredulous! My 2 recommendations would be Bally's and Monarch. Isle is hanging on by a thread and does not have good action or table selection (1 NL game only is common) and Ameristar is old news (like an old mining town that died over the ages).

So there you have it folks.

Jesus is the series almost over? Blackhawk has been a ghost town since end of August.

If one can work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. or World, where would you relocate to for a great poker scene? I'm looking..

Apparently everyone's moving to TX (or has done so already).

Local angle on WSOP Main Event final table: Chase Bianchi used to deal at Gates and play Astar until he moved to Maryland 5 or so years ago. Friendly guy, he’s also Wizard-50 or something like that on 2+2 (I don’t think he posts here anymore though)

How are the roads driving back down to Denver in light to medium snow during winter months? I have a Nissan altima with standard tires

Standard all weather tires.... not a good idea. Drinking and playing for hours before you make the attempt home on standard all weather tires will turn into a game of Bumper Cars.

The way this year is shaping up, I wouldn't worry too much about snow accumulation on the roads, especially in the lower elevations of Clear Creek Canyon. That said, if the roads seem especially slippery, I would advise against taking U.S. 6 due to the risk of sliding into oncoming traffic. I'll always take my changes on I-70 due to having minimal risk of head-on collisions. There is a lot more roadway acting as a buffer in the event you get into a spinout.

No sudden braking, accelerating, sharp wheel turns, and you should be fine. Gear down to avoid the need for braking at all.

Anyone know when a big tournament series is coming through Blackhawk? Looking for $1000-$25000 buy ins. Looks like heartland poker tour is no more.
