Jeez... they didn't even walk Randy for the day, at least? That's nuts!

No.

o8 2/5-100 game on Friday evenings and all day Saturday at Ameristar. That's the only non-holdem casino run game in Colorado, to my knowledge anyway.

im wondered this too, never known how to drive, sure not paying $100 a day to ride uber into denver everyday. ive never found any options to live (longterm, by the week) in the area the casinos are outside denver. therefore ive not been comfortable flying there to visit. ive heard some of the rooms with very little business give $29 rooms for 4 hours sun-thurs but this wont be of help when the weekend comes.. plus id be in a room with only like 1 table.

i did find a person to write me back on craigslist for like $1200 month in the casino midnite rose area outside co springs though, its a different part of co. never investigated back because i never went there, so i cant report on how it worked.

Golden is 30 minute drive. I live in Wheat Ridge and it's a 35-40 minute drive. Arvada is 40-45 minutes. I-70 all the way up! I can drive there with my eyes closed it's so easy. Don't speed too much though. Highway patrol makes a lot of revenue up there

Anyone interested in an 8-16 LHE game this weekend or next?

Where? Ameristar
Limit? 8-16
Blinds? 4-8
Game? Hold em
Kill? 1/2 kill to 12-24
When? July 29th or August 5th (Saturdays)

By the way, in the days of 2-5 and 5-5 (before limits went up) the max raises used to be 5 (1 bet and 5 raises). Is this still the case for fixed hold em games in Colorado? Vary house to house or statewide rule?

I don't play 30-60 so I don't know the going rule for max raises. Probably 1 bet and 3 raises right? If so, lame.

Please reply if interested and let's get something different going for a change.

Good luck, it would be great if a feeder game to the 30 was established.

I would suggest you try and start 10-20 w 1/2 kill instead. Ameristar only has 1&5 dollar chips, betting and making change will be a disaster @8-16.

Also, try and get the game going by early afternoon so all the tables haven't filled up yet and they will give you one.

Rule is 1 bet & 3 raises unless it is heads up, in which case there is no cap.

To live? I don't think so, I live in Eastern Denver and it takes me an hour to get there every time I go up.

Golden would be your best bet it's about 30 minutes out (western Denver), but as far as affordable i'm not really sure. I don't know anyone actually living up there, maybe you could find something in Idaho Springs (approx 15 mins from BH) but I highly doubt there's going to be "affordable" housing there.

It's such an inconvenience for everyone to have to drive so far, and weeds out a lot of recreational players imo, if we had this down in town everyone would be happier. But hey we had it on the ballot and it lost 2-1, and Monarch is being built in BH, so that's not happening any time soon.

There's a bus that runs up there from I think Golden if you don't wanna drive. Think it's free too. I know a lot of dealers take the bus up the canyon instead of driving.

Midnight rose is literally a ghost town. Don't go play poker over there, you'll regret it.

Is it best to drive to the bus stop then and take the bus to BH there and back?

I'm too lazy to look but I'm pretty sure I've heard the bus is something like $20 but you can get part of that back in casino credit. I think it's more geared towards the older folks who probably don't feel comfortable driving the canyon.

Sup bros. I'm in town for the weekend. Who can give me some good local restaurants to check out near Blackhawk?

Welcome!! You may have guessed but the Black Hawk area is not known for its fine dining. The standard recs immediately in town are all steakhouses: Timberline (Ameristar), Farradays (Isle), and White Buffalo (Lodge). They're all ok and pretty similar, but nothing special IMO. Although White Buffalo renovated about a year ago (haven't been since) and the setting is the best if you sit out in the big windowed room hanging over the street. Another option if it's open is Rouge in Central City near the Opera House. It has limited hours, however, depending on whether there is opera going on that night, so you'd have to check first. May be worth it just to see some of the historic buildings up there.

If you're in Denver at all and looking for the closest thing to a Vegas style steakhouse quality-wise and feel-wise, you can't go wrong with Guard and Grace. Too many other places to recommend in Denver, somebody may know something in Golden which is a little closer to BH. Enjoy your stay!

Why are you here? Is there a tournament going on in BH that I don't know about?

Edit: Also I got fired today so I'd be interested if someone were to organize an eat-up meet-up.

As said above, not much in Blackhawk. Head 20 minutes down the road to Idaho Springs and check out Smokin Yards BBQ. Good food and a cool deck behind the place to eat at. Overlooks the river running through there. The touristy places are Tommyknocker Brewery (typical bar menu and great beer) or Beau Jos pizza.

Just checked Bravo (Tuesday night), and didn't see any 4/8 LHE tables at the Ameristar, just the 2/5 spread then 30/60 LHE.

Does anyone know if the 4/8 runs a lot on Thursday nights? I'll be there then and and maybe Friday. Are there any 8/16 or 10/20 LHE games? Have you guys ever seen these games at the Ameristar?

If there are no mid-limit games, do I just ask to start a list with the brush? I've never suggested a game before.

Thanks.

4-8 hasn't run for more than a year and there are no 8-16, 10-20, 15-30, or 20-40 LHE games anywhere in Blackhawk or Colorado (except homes games). It is a sad state of affairs for LHE players.

The Reserve closed their poker room and the players moved to thr Ameristar. Every monday and thursday this group plays 2/4 LHE. Yes that's right: LHE! they play from 10am-2pm. They're really good people. Average age is probably 85

With $7 in rake, they'd be better off getting a room and playing up there. Buy some white chips at the cage.

Gotta stretch out that Social Security check as much as possible. Hey, it's all about 'being in the game' right?

There are a couple of apartment complexes in Central City. I don't know about rents or vacancies (if any) though. Also possible you might find a rental house up there somewhere.

I haven't seen 4/8 run at A* for some time now, even on weekends. The only LHE currently running regularly in BH is 30/60, sometimes 50/100 on weekends at A*.

ETA: Forgot about the 2-10 spread limit running at Lady Luck. It's not a game I would ever play, but if you're looking for a small limit game it's all there is.
