Just came back from Vegas and played some mixed games.

We play 2-5/100 Omaha/8 at Ameristar every Friday and Saturday. More players in the game always welcome

Trying to figure out where to settle in CO. Been to ameristar a bunch, it's much closer. Is poker in cripple creek still alive? Seems like most of the rooms died, but maybe the midnight rose still has consistent games? They don't appear to be on bravo...

Too expensive. I plan on camping. Squaw mtn/chief mtn are about 45 min south according to Google maps. Livin' rent free, that's my plan

Did Ameristar get rid of their primary bad beat Jackpot? And now just have a high hand and progressive type of bbj. Haven't seen it on bravo as of late?

Does anyone here make a living playing strictly 2/5?

If 15-40 $/hr( it is spread limit thus lower winning rates, plus rake is huge) is enough for you then it is possible. I know at least 10 players playing 40+ hrs these games.
30/60 might offer better opportunities.

Little did they know.

Yep, everything is very close together, easy to walk from one end of the BH "strip" to the other end. There's not a huge selection of restaurants, and I'm only really familiar with the Ameristar options, the steak house there is good but expensive, smokehouse options from Fireside Kitchen are pretty good. Buffet is okay as well. The steak house at The Lodge is the same as Astar (nice but pricey, at least it was the last time I ate there a few years ago).

I only play poker so not speaking from experience about cheapest place to degen but I'd guess that anywhere except Astar will have low limit tables readily available. Have fun!

Single oversized chip is a call unless there is a verbal declaration of 'raise' beforehand.

In my experience every room up there will say it's a call if you throw in a single chip w/o saying anything.

In my experience every room in the country will rule the same.

And the rest of us don't have time to audit the stacks of folks who throw in a single chip.

(Not being snarky, just explaining why this objection has no merit. It's one of those rules that, unfortunately, the only way to learn about it is the hard way.)

It's a call unless you verbally announce raise.

Fun story:

Playing 2/5 Omaha 3 weeks ago, i'm racking up my chips to leave as the blind approaches. I have 7 racks worth of chips. I have 5 full racks, guy to my left says "can you move those onto the little table behind us, it's in my way". So sure I move them off the table, I still over 1k in front of me. Anyway, last hand of the night, i'm utg, flop comes and theres a few hundred in the middle, "doc" says hey man put those chips back on the table so you don't disqualify your hand. So I put the racks back on the table.

Now Unknown guy in seat 1 starts flipping out cursing and screaming at me, saying those chips can't play etc etc etc. I tell him to just relax, they don't have to play, just don't want my hand disqualified etc. Now I don't know if any of you know "big randy" but for some reason he has a special affinity for me. And we all know his temper. Well he didn't take kindly to the way this guy was talking to me. He "Hey **** you dude". Usually the randoms just quiet down when big H says something, but this guy was furious. I was trying to tell him to relax, it doesn't matter etc it's a spread limit game I have 1k in front of me the 3k in racks don't have to play etc. But he isn't having it. Dealer is screaming for the floor.

Big R grabs a handful of white chips and throws them in the dudes face and says "f your mom". F U F U FUUUUUU. Floor arrives. Tells everyone to calm down. Big R isn't having it, says I "can say whatever I want!" F! F F F F F your mom!

Floor decision? EVERYONE can keep playing. While I appreciate big R standing up for me, that is a truly ridiculous ruling. It was disturbing enough that 5 of us left the table right then.

Colorado has a max bet law of $100. So you're not going to find any NL/PLO games in a casino.
