I know ameristar and gates are the places to play.I am wondering about isle and reserve. Are these rooms like the lodge just a matter of time before they close or do they have a future thanks for any replies.

I stopped by the Isle poker room within the last couple months at approximately 11 pm on a Friday night. They had 4 tables of 1/2-100 going, so if that is your game of choice it could be an option.

Isle used to be on Bravo but they got rid of it a while ago, maybe 2 years? And if that wasn't enough to cause it's complete demise then I can't imagine it going away any time soon. It's a really nice room (nice tables and chairs, separate from the rest of the casino noise), I'm kinda surprised it had as many as 4 tables going though given it's isolation.

In other BH news, progress on the Monarch remodel can be viewed here:
http://www.denverpost.com/2016/12/21...age-implosion/

Finally, the progressive BBJ seems to be working out well for Astar, there's a lot of traffic during the week as the qualifier drops-I think it got to be Kings full of Aces or something similar before it hit a couple of weeks ago. I played yesterday at Aces full of fives and the room was packed by 11 AM (granted it was a holiday and likely would've been crowded anyways).

Jumped on bravo yesterday before heading out to the Ameristar and saw the 1/2 list had 92 people on it. That was enough to make me stay home for the day.

Was the room really that busy yesterday and do you think January 2nd will be similar?

If you're playing 1/2, you should have a ton of choices up there. My advice would be to head up and shop rooms, starting at your most favorite. There's life outside the Ameristar... unless you play limit. Then, there's exactly one room.

Is it even worth taking trips to Ameristar if you live in Colorado Springs? It's like a two hour friggin trip one way. (1/2 & 2/5 player)

I'm probably better off going to Midnight Rose in Cripple Creek, but I'm sure they're not pulling nowhere near numbers of 92 people on a list.

The 92 person list was a result of the descending bad beat getting down to a low qualifier. It looks like it got hit in the last couple days, so the lists should be shorter near-term.

What is the situation with games at Midnight Rose? Do they regularly have 1/2 when you want to play? Do they run 2/5? If I were you and could easily get in the games I wanted to play there, I wouldn't drive 2 hrs each way.

Hi,
anybody knows how much points you earn at ameristar playing poker?
I play 2/5 and 30/60
I want to reach prefered status and wonder how many points I get per hour.

I was told that I can bus comped for 5 hours and get 2$ for food.
But I would like to reach Prefered status which is 15000 points so if anybody could tell me how much points for 2/5 and 30/60?
Thanks

20 points/hour regardless of what game you're playing.

thanks,
it is kind of odd that all games are rated the same
so it seems that I need 750 hours... or just play lots of craps...
Last year I did 400 plus

What game you play doesn't really matter to the casino. They all drop roughly the same amount of rake.

Looks like I'll be in town to play the HPT at Golden Gates next month. There seem to be several satellite scenarios to gain entry to the ME in addition to a direct buy-in. I'd prefer to satellite, but I'm a little concerned about how crowded it'll be, etc. Thoughts or past experiences anyone can share? TIA.

Thanks,
do you know anything about Prefered card benefits. On a paper it sounds great - free Vegas trip, Ritz Carlton in Aruba or San Juan , VIP lounge.
I usualy play every week but I don't know if going from 400 plus hours to 750 hours worth it for me. I am recreational player and enjoy poker but just afraid it could become a grind( with winning record).

If you're in town the weekend before the main, play the $300 kickoff event too. The room has 18(?) tables, usually 2 cash running during a series.

I live here; I just travel an insane amount of the time which usually leads to me not being able to play either of their local events. I missed that kickoff event though. Thanks for the heads up.

If you are looking to play one of the daily $380 satellites I would not worry about it being too crowded. The only major issue I have run into with crowds is registering for a Saturday Day 1. They usually get full at the start or shortly after the start of the day and they would put you on an alternate list which means people have to bust before you would be seated. This can happen with a satellite as well if they have a few full tables and you register. They are not the best with preparing for this or even balancing tables during an event. Its annoying but if it is important for you to be seated when any event starts you should try to get to the podium 20-30 minutes before the start time.

In the post it says:
" FYI...I was at Ameristar Blackhawk this past weekend and they upgraded me to the Preferred MyChoice card for having Mlife Platinum. They confirmed that Mlife Gold translates to MyChoice Advantage as well."

I already have 5700 on my Advantage card this year so I will find out soon...

I don't go to Vegas that much( maybe 3-4 times a year) and usually spend most of my time playing poker thus achieving points for gold is hard for me.
I need Mlife Gold to get special benefits on Royal Caribbean( I go on poker cruises at least twice a year).
