Thanks
Potawatomi in Milwaukee has PLO, 1-2-5 up to 5-10 depending on the day.

There was a 20/40 or 30/60 LHE that would start on Tuesdays(?) at noon, but don't know if that still runs.

Going back to the blue chip in Michigan city for my yearly pilgrimage, I see on their website that there are no longer promos listed, the only thing up is the tournament schedule. Any regs that can offer insight on this?

Where is the best/closest poker room?

Any advice is much appreciated

Thanks

Best is Horseshoe hammond, that's where you'll find consistent action 2/5 nl and above (or plo). Long drive from des Plaines tho.

Closest is grand Victoria in elgin, have never played there so can't speak to their game selection.

Look up Rockford charitable games, the room moves all around the des plaines area. They have 1/2 cash and tourneys everyday, and deep stacked 2/5 usually.

From Des Plaines you are a bit in the middle, but I would consider Milwaukee as well if you are even considering Hammond. It will be much less traffic hassle .. you just need to drive much closer to the speed limit in WI.

Not sure how serious or how many hours you want to get in, but any charity action is a good way to go IMO as well. GL

They've still got a poster for some high hand promos but I don't remember the particulars. I was in that area and stopped by around lunch time and nothing was going. Don't regularly play out that way but stop in now and then.

Damn, is this recent? I remember the early bird old men would be there at 11 during the summer.

Horseshoe Hammond and Potawatomi in Milwaukee are about equidistant (in terms of time) from Des Plaines.

I actually think I prefer the poker room/action at Horseshoe Hammond but Potawatomi is in Milwaukee if you actually want anything to do outside of the casino (Northwestern Indiana is, frankly, a ****ing dive).

Chicago Is on the way to Hammond, and I do consider chicago a dive but if hes visiting he may like the lakefront.

Chicago's an absolutely ****ing amazing city, but the casino is not in Chicago it's in Hammond, IN, so I'm not sure what you're saying.

Yes last week but I don't remember the exact time. It could have been before 11. Was out running errands that way and just stopped in when I passed it.

What? If Chicago is a "dive" how many non-"dive" cities do you think exist in the US?

I live in the burbs, and things like this may happen but you wont see a group of 30 waiting to order food, just watching, without calling cops. That and the parking situation...

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL at that sort of scene going on every time you walk into a public place. Every city has its bad parts. Some are worse than others, but to link this video as "definitive Chicago activity" is pretty funny.

also lol at posting videos where you can clearly see nipples popping out

I've got one day in Chicago next weekend. I'll be in the western suburbs for work; and have a few hours to kill. If I can hit one poker room: Hollywood or Grand Victoria in Elgin, which should I choose?

I'm looking for a 1-2 NLHE cash game, as my funds are a bit tight right now. I'll be there in the afternoon.

Is there an advantage to one room over another?

I know you didn't list it but if you can make it to the Horseshoe the games are always good, doubly so on weekends. Can't speak to either of the other places you listed though. Hopefully a Chi head will come and have better advice.

What kind of drive would I be looking at between O'Hare and Hammond?

probably a good 1-1.5 hours.

elgin is probably the only choice you have. games are soft, haven't seen 1 decent reg there in over 5 years of playing there. rake is pretty high, but the soft game makes up for it.

Anybody have a link to a schedule for whatever tournament series is going on at Horseshoe this weekend? I can't find it online anywhere.
