I basically consider anything within an hours drive of me (south loop/uic) to still be Chicagoland, and I liked playing at four winds and like playing at Blue Chip. Basically anything within an hour that's not Horseshoe counts for me. It's also useful to be able to call ahead and save a seat and be able to immediately park when you get there, as opposed to sometimes going on a scavenger hunt for a spot at the shoe then having to wait for them to open a table for 15 minutes after 9 people are ready to go, like I did last time.

Good to know people think Majestic Star is soft since maybe I can stop there a couple times in my quest to build a roll and compare it to the marshmallow softness that I find at the Blue Chip. Best times to get the easy mahnies at Majestic weekend nights or is it profitable during the weeknights as well?

Does any1 in here know if and when Rivers Casino in Des Plains will get a poker room???? last year i was hearing that they had to wait a year to apply for a license but haven't heard anything lately....This place seems to be the ideal location for a poker room since its in the middle of all the subs and chicago...

Not to mention an absurd rake, no headphones, no laughing, and no gum.

Since the blue chip thread is a steaming pile of 5 year old horsespit, can one.of you wizards tell me if you've ever been in the room when they do the wheel of fortune promotion? Should I sit at a table with all regs if I want to partake? Going this weekend need this birthday rungood.

Sorry bro, as far as public transportation I think you're locked into the Horseshoe Hammond.

So I went to blue chip this past weekend, got there around 815 and surprisingly there were 6 tables running. I think they might actually run 2/5 as well because some old man was commenting on a guy holding 2 racks that "that guy is a good 2/5 player, I hope he doesn't sit here" at my 1/2 game. Typical shortstacking guys mixed with maybe 2 competent villains and some older guys who didn't mind reloading $100 at a time within first 2 orbits. Bought in for 160 and due to a brain fart at the end of the night walked with 3 whites. I'm only a 1/2 player but if this is your stakes it's a really solid option. Call ins allowed and within 5 minutes of showing up I open a new table. Also, should call ahead on a Saturday night and see if 2/5 is running.

Bump!

I recently moved out here from Michigan. Anyone play or host any friendly home games in the city or know of a better option than the Horseshoe for me to play.

I'm 25, live in Roscoe Village and have a full 10 person table with professional denominated chips (25c - $25) and would be more than willing to host a game (rake free) if anyone is looking to accomplish the same things.

Feel free to shot me a PM with any suggestions or if you'd like to coordinate a monthly game or w/e

bump, also looking to play some live poker in the Chicago area. Are there any rooms that run consistent 1/2 and/or 2/5 that's soft?

Any chance you're still looking to get this going? I moved to Lakeview about 2 months ago and have been looking to find a home game in the area.

Hey dude, I'm definitely still down to get something going. I moved to Lakeview (Southport and Grace) in May so I don't have the space that I did in Roscoe but I still have a 9-person table and custom chips I'd love to put to use. I'm willing to **** around at any stakes even STT while we drink beers. I've been so deprive of poker lately I'd love some local guys to get things going with.

i'm also game if anyone's looking to get a home game together in the city. i live on the Near West Side, but basically anything near CTA is good for me.

i'm definitely not up for super high stakes or anything (coming back to poker over these last few months, after a few years' hiatus), but i don't know anyone around Chicago who plays, and it would be fun both to play live, and maybe meet people to chat poker with.

Hey dudes...I'm coming to Chicago for the WSOP Circuit to play cash and some $365 and $580 tournaments. Oct 17th to Oct 22nd. Looking for an inexpensive place to stay, either share hotel or an apt or room with a bed. Don't really want to pay $300 a nite and $70 a nt to park. Will stay half hr away on Indiana side if I have to but def do not prefer it. If interested pm me or contact me on twitter @bwilliepoker

That sounds ideal dude. I'm definitely in. I'm at Greenview and Waveland so, pretty convenient for me location wise. It seems like we've got a decent amount of interest here for a game in the area.

Looking to take a trip out to the Horseshoe in Hammond ... are either of the other casinos (Ameristar, Majestic Star) worth stopping at?
