Thanks for calling. I played at Harrah's Saturday night as I was already in Joliet on business.

The room was hopping, I think partly because of leftovers from the deepstack NLHE tournament (38 runners).

Ok, I was there from 11am to 7pm, game started at around 1pm, had 5 on waiting list when I left FYI.

-Maj Stars food options have become the worst btw. I miss the upstairs Deli.

I know this might sound stupid but does anyone know of any underground games in Chicago like in rounders where Mike would play. I just moved back and looking for a game that's not that far of a drive.

(you're still not going to find anywhere that allows string bets.)

Hey guys, I haven't played at the shoe in a couple years. What are the games like at 1/2 there on weekends? My memory was that they were really nitty with a lot of older regular rocks.

I don't play often, and I play for fun. Sitting with seven regs who are just nut mining turned me off after my last couple trips.

I typically play 2/5, but yeah, same thing. I'm not sure where you live but if you're in the 'burbs you should look into playing 1/2 at the local charity events. Players aren't as nitty and you don't have to drive to Hammond.

Can anyone update me on the expansion of the Hollywood Aurora room? I dispise the room as it was but it is by far the most convenient for me to get to.

Is the renovation complete? How many $1/$2 NL tables go on weeknights? What have the waits been like?

Does anyone know what the rake is at the Four Winds on the e-tables? I'm also wondering what the action is like, how many tables usually run, the usual... : )

The e-tables are used primarily for tourneys. On occasion they may have 1 cash game going on these, I believe the rake is max $4.

Not sure what renovation you're speaking of, however there are usually 2-3 1/2's rolling on any given night. Weekends there can be up to 4 at times. Wait time usually is no more than 30 minutes if that, as long as you call in advance. Also depends when you decide to play, as per usual. We'll very rarely get a 2/5 going, but that's only on Sundays and by request.

the only renovations i have witnessed over the past few years was the purchase of adjustable chairs just a few months ago. aside from that, they put up a flat screen that lists the weekly games and BBJ total. they refelted a few tables, but that was years ago. was there something else that you're referring to?

Nope...Aurora. To the best of my knowledge, there hasn't been any notable renovations to Hollywood Aurora in years.

Never mind, just got off the phone with them and you are correct. The reason I was challenging this is because they were supposed to unveil a new room Feb 1. I asked what happened and they said they ran into some minor issues, lol. I asked when it will be ready then? And they replied they have no idea. LOL

A friend of mine is a supervisor there and was the one who originally told me this back in December. I will see him tomorrow possibly and report here if I find anything out. This is so typical.

Rake: $6+1

Side Notes: Very nice/well run room. If they tweaked a few numbers they could be top notch.
Couple tweeks to this...

3-5nl+ is time charged at $7/half hour instead of raked. 1-3 Big Stack runs on Mondays I think, but 3-5 is always big stack.

They also have Saturday tournaments at 3pm, buy ins and game type vary, they post a schedule on their website... here is March: http://www.harrahsjoliet.com/images/...h_calender.pdf

While playing at Harrah's last week a couple of players mentioned that they heard through the grapevine that the Hollywood Aurora would renovate and move the poker room to the high limit area. Not sure of the validity of that and would doubt they would invest in the poker room when it doesn't appear they have invested in anything at that casino is some time. What a depressing dump but it is conveniently located for me.

So I'm going to be in the Chicago area for a few days for business. I'll have a free Saturday, during which I'd like to play 20-40 limit hold'em. Will I be able to find a game at the Horseshoe in Hammond? Is that the best place? It would be the most convenient for me, but since I only play mid-stakes limit I'd be willing to drive a little if I could be sure I could find a game running.
