I hope someone can help you out. There used to be a small casino near O'Hare that only had 1 or 2 tables, Rivers Casino I think. There is a Chicago Charity Poker website that may help as well. You didn't give the day of week you are arriving.

Unfortunately I would say that Hammond or Joliet would be my choices and both are quite a drive. I could probably find a shuttle for Hammond. Harrah's in Joliet has a $750K BBJ right now and I've never had an issue with the action when I've been there. GL

I'm arriving on Tuesday evening. Will probably just suck it up and head to Hammond, where I'm comfortable.

Thanks for the recommendation. Played tonight and the 2/5 was great. Super deep game and I ended up killing.

Going to be in town during the week in March.

Which Casinos have games during the day?

Im looking to play at a few new casinos:
Majestic Star
Blue Chip Casino
Par a Dice
Hollywood Casino Joliet

Any of the above have games during the day? Any notes or info would be greatly appreciated (since they are not on Bravo). Thank you!

Hollywood - Aurora is on Bravo
Harrah's - Joliet is on Bravo

Not sure why Hollywood Joliet wouldn't be but ...

Certainly if you are willing to go to Joliet I would recommend Harrah's simply due to the BBJ at 700k and I've never really not had a good experience there. GL

Hey guys, I'm flying into Chicago for a night and need a cheap/safe/relatively clean place to stay near the casinos in Indiana as I will likely be grinding all night and will need a shower in the am lol. Can anyone give me a recommendation? Thanks in advance

I'm considering the Chicagoland BQ2 Marathon, which is a last second qualifier for the Boston Marathon next year.

Is there a nice casino hotel within 30 minutes? I'd like to play some poker the night before and sleep in a really comfortable bed before the race without having to drive an hour in the morning to get there.

Google tells me there are Hollywood Casino Aurora and Grand Victoria Casino but I can't really tell if they are what I am looking for.

I like playing at Harrah's in Joliet, IL. I've never stayed at the hotel though, only others near by on an exit for 55 .. but the BBJ is like $700K!!

It's an easy drive straight into DTWN or the loop. Might be over your 'mark' of 30 min, but usually there aren't as many issues with traffic coming from Freeway 55 like you will see on 94 near Hammond. GL

The trooper took all their money!

Try the Horseshoe Hammond thread, that has much more activity than this one.

Nothing in that area is safe OR clean but everything is cheap. Theres a few little ****hole hotels close to horseshoe hammond(which is the ONLY casino to consider over there) but again, "cheap" is the only thing that fits into ur criteria. Depending on what you're in town for and if you have a car, you can stay downtown. It takes 20min to get to casino from there. Gl

Do any of the poker rooms offer an airport shuttle from Midway airport?

I'm not sure if the shuttles that run are Horseshoe 'operated' or hotel operated, but there are a few. I've seen where players from out of town have requested ride sharing to airports before so I'm doubting that Midway in on any of the routes. GL

Will Rivers casino in Des Plaines ever open a poker room? I think they could easily draw players that currently go to Elgin, Joliet or Hammond, IN.

Short answer? No.

More detailed; Walk in there right now. Does it look like they're struggling to draw people? Absolutely not. To the casino bean counters, poker rooms are a tremendous waste of resources where they hope to do little better than break even. To make things worse, IL gaming regs require each seat to count as a gaming position against their licensed number thereof, whereas Indiana allows each table to count as one position. So, in summary, Illinois casinos only add poker rooms when they're struggling to generate traffic, and they do so with the hopes that at least some of those players bring wives who'll go park in front of the slots. Given Rivers prime location near the intersection of two major tollways, and a stone's throw from a major airport hub and its surrounding hotels, I honestly have a hard time seeing a poker room at Rivers in my lifetime.

Hi there Chicago folks!

I am making a trip to Chicago and Bloomington in January. Looking to get away one evening, either a Wed or Thu late night when I am staying in Chicago or a Friday night when I am in Bloomington.

I am fine playing $1/2. Open to other games but playing later at night I am assuming that is a tall order.

From what I can see using Poker Atlas, my best bet is Horseshoe Casino Hammond but I can be talked into trying another room. Any suggestions from locals?

I'd download Bravo and check which rooms look best. If you're staying closer to O'hare or west suburbs Elgin's Grand Victoria will have some 1/2 as well as 2/5 going. Aurora Hollywood will have a few 1/2 games and some higher Limit games. But the Horseshoe in Hammond, IN will be best option especially if you're staying in the city and they'll have 1/2, 2/5 + and also 1/2PLO going and probably going later if that's important.

Don't forget Joilet as well. I've never really found the best way to find charity poker in Indiana and I've not run across any posts that suggest it happens near Bloomington. There is an Indianapolis thread as well. There are 'no dealer' tables outside the east side of Indy, but even that would be a poke from IU. GL

I have the Bravo app. It's good to know all the relevant rooms are on it. I was in Los Angeles last month and that wasn't the case.

I wound up at the Grand Victoria since it was closest to where I was on the Bravo. Will post a little trip report goodness in their thread once I find it.

The Illinois sports gambling bill passed today, includes approval for casino expansion including a "mega" casino for Chicago.

https://chicago.suntimes.com/2019/6/...chicago-casino

Quote:
The measure would add six new casinos in Chicago, Waukegan, the south suburbs, Williamson County in southern Illinois, Rockford in northern Illinois and Danville in the state’s east-central region.

The Chicago casino, which would be regulated by the Illinois Gaming Board, would be allowed to have up to 4,000 gambling positions — three times more than any other casino in the state currently has.
Even if a Chicago casino did not have any need for a poker room, would think it would still have a big affect on traffic at other casinos (Rivers ?).

Curious what others with some knowledge of local casino/poker market think the implications may be, for Chicago and Hammond.
