Today I got AAx1, KKx4, QQx2, JJx1x TTx3 and 99x1.
And the only time I won was with TT on a K42 board and I "bluffed" the blinds. -2k on 2/5 at a GREAT table. Blech.

Anyway, as far as I can recall, 2/5 table, I get AQ Off, I Preflop raise to 18, get 4 callers, flop comes ??? 2 clubs, I bet 60, guy calls, everyone else folds, turn is a blank, I bet 100, guy calls, River is a blank, Guy pushes all in for 130, I have him on the flush draw the whole was, so I call the 130 with AQ off, hoping he didn't pair the board chasing the flush, He says he missed, and that I win, I turn over my AQ Off, and he turns over AJ Clubs, and he missed 12 or so outs, and I took the 600+ Pot with A High Q Kicker. Bad call, but I figured he missed his draw, and was trying to bluff me. Bad call on my part.
You raised to 18 at a 2/5 table?

Only 2 went to showdown. Kk<QQ AIPF and KK< AT T flop river Ace. (He checked riv I checked behind after betting each street.)

Was 100% beat on all but one possible TT hand when I folded super Aggro player's shove of J554 board. (3 bet call on flop).

Did anybody play the double stack tourney? If so, how did you think it went? How did you do? I wasn't there long enough to really judge but it seemed OK. Cash games were pretty good during day 1b.

Structure just wasn't that good with the 20 minute levels.

Field was soft, as pretty much all C-town tourneys, but even with the double starting stack it's really more a turbo than not.

I tend to agree. CT structures do not let you survive any period of being card dead. A longer structure usually allows a patient and disciplined player to weather at least one, and sometimes a couple of periods when the cards go dormant. To do well at CT tournaments you must get hot and stay hot, or just plain suck out multiple times.

I have tried to play (successfully only a couple of times) due to the soft fields, but have decided that between the lost time at the cash games and the bingo nature of CT tournaments, I am swearing them off for the time being.....unless it is a special event with 200+ entries or they are juicing the pot much like they did for the President's Day tournament where they added $25k and HPO seats.

Totally with you Hunt. I honestly love tournaments, but have resisted playing almost any event b/c of the structures and lost hourly at cash games.

Then when I do play, I'm like--if they had 30 minute levels, I could just crush these fields. Still, there is profit to be had for people who care to embrace the variance associated with it. There is a skill to acquiring chips fast/early even w/o cards, you just have to press the envelope.

Only played a handful of tournaments there (HPO Bounty, President's Day, and one of the daily $150s). But man were the fields soft (like drunken home game with friends and family soft).

With exception of the HPO event (which wasn't run by Ctown) was not a fan of structure or how it was run. However as a crapshoot lotto ticket that does allow some early level skill play (and at least favors mathematical knowledge of tournament odds and correct shove/fold strat later), there is still money to be made, but luck is definitely a huge factor in any individual cash.

I want no part of these drawing days anymore. It would help if I ever won anything, but god the tables are disastrous and a twelve hour grind in those conditions just isn't fun....

Had my worst day ever at the chuck. Ran bad, played bad, didnt want to be there.

Hated every second of today. Way it was run big black eye, IMO. I'm with Berge... Not bothering with the next one.

Didn't even want to get close to there Sunday. Saw Bravo and just shook my head. I'm done with these promos. When is the 2+2 game?

First time ever playing with W0X0F and he hits a Royal Flush. Shares $1100 bonus with table.

Good guy.

Even better I folded my AT preflop and saved a few hundred bucks.

Thanks,

Just found this thread..cool idea!

Had a crazy 2/5 session yesterday where I misread my hand and "value-bet" a straight on the river..only to show sqauadoosh and look like a total jackass..

Then after that.. Had a period of literally 6 hands in a row where I went all in every hand.. and ended up okay lol

Hand 1: tight guy raises to 25 someone calls I reraise to 75 with QQ both call me.. flop is 789r checks to me I bet 125 first guy goes all in for about 300 other guy folds.. my QQ > his JJ

Hand 2: very next hand.. cold caller from previous hand raises to 15 utg I 3 bet J9ss he calls HU.. flop is AKThhs he checks I bet 65 he calls.. turn is 7s.. he checks I bet 145 he goes allin for 350 or so I call.. his KQss > my J9ss

Hand 3: 3 hands later I'm in sb with JJ.. about 4 limps button raises to 30 I just call.. someone limp raised to 200 .. button folds.. the limp raiser had been tight but it's so weird to limp reraise from the HJ when both CO and button weren't particularly active.. so I call.. and his QQ > JJ.. button says he folded TT

Hand 4: I think 2 or 3 hands later.. 2 people limp to me.. I open shove QQ and get called by the button from the previous hand.. I win

Hand 5: very next hand.. 1 limps to me I raise to 20 with JThh.. short stack behind me 3 bets to 60 I think he thinks I'm opening light so I shove on him for 140 more or so he calls and my JT > his QT

Hand 6: very next hand.. button from 3 hands ago opens to 35 after 2 players just post.. I have AKo and raise to 100 some tight guy goes allin for 170 the original raiser just calls.. I put him allin for about 400 total he calls and I scoop both of them when I spike an A

Wow!! Craziest 10 minutes or so ever! Lol

I haven't been here in ages, but thinking about going soon. 1.25 hour drive is kind of annoying though for a day trip (although, I guess to a lot of people, it's next to nothing). Do any of you guys play in home games as well as the chuck?

I play an occasional home game in N. VA. Try and make the drive at least once a week. Have even gone up just for a couple hours. Still like the predictable western drive more than the unknown northern drive on interstates. Not saying it won't happen once in a while.
