I just read theres another $40M expansion. I'm guessing Poker isn't part of the plans but will Poker EVER be available at Buffalo Creek?

probably not. seneca owns both casinos and is the only legal poker on this side of the border. there's no reason for them to compete with themselves

What about Salamanca? They have a poker room that is down the street in the bingo hall.

That's also owned by Seneca. Next closet option this side of the border is Presque Isle in Erie, PA

Couldn't you just keep your playing bankroll in Canadian $ and only convert to US $ when you want to take money out (or convert US $ to Canadian when you need to add)?

Is there some law or regulation prohibiting you from bringing Canadian $ across the border?

I would agree that if you convert on every crossing the additional "rake" would make the game tough to beat.

Whats the best way of possibly getting a room for a night or 2?

I'm looking online at the rates in the casino and there kinda high. I just need a bed and a TV lol. Maybe $50 a night if possible from the surrounding hotels in the area? Have anyone on here done anything like that?....Thanks

And does the Casino ever comp a room if I play for awhile? Any sort of discount or full comp?

I'm planning on heading to Niagara for like 2 days, 1 night maybe longer depending how the tables treat me lol

American side or Canadian?

One place I wouldn't stay is the Passport Inn on the American side. Stayed there one time and found a pube on the pillow.

There must be places with a better cad/usd exchange rate down there (don't use the casino) In Vancouver there was a place with less than 1% spread on cad/usd and it wasn't particularly well known. Sadly haven't found anything nearly as good in the Toronto area.

When entering Canada you must declare if you are carrying the equivalent of $10,000 Canadian -- quite a bit less than $10k usd, be wary of that. You're allowed to carry as much cash as you like, you just have to declare it.

Would be sensible to just hold a CAD float if you're playing up north regularly instead of converting everything.

The only places you're getting $50 a night from are the low-rise motels. Which truthfully aren't bad. You just get what you pay for.

The Embassy Suites by Hilton occasionally have C$120/night weekends, probably the cheapest you are going to get a nice room for and it's only one block from Fallsview.

Depends on how far you want to walk. Anything between the casino and the river shouldn't be too bad to walk though.

I think they have a $2/hr comp now at Seneca. Not sure about a room rate though.

Last I heard it's $1/hr for 1/2, $2/hr for 2/5 and there's no room rates I'm aware of

As far as I know Uber and Lyft are illegal in Buffalo NY and I'm assuming Niagara Falls New York. On the Canadian side they are illegal too.

Niagara Falls has terrible exchange places on the tourist strip. I have never found any good ones on the Canadian side. From what I have seen on the website Seneca Niagara may be one of the better ones in the area.

Ps. Toronto has quite a few exchange places that take a shade over 1 percent and are quite a bit better than banks. A few of them are in the financial district. I have found some independent cheque cashing services are quite good. Just avoid Money Mart as their rates are are 2 or 3 percent worse than commercial banks.

I just found Uber is legal in Niagara Falls Ontario. I think it's fairly recent but you can now hail a driver with your cellphone or a computer. It's still illegal on the American side though.

Hello, I currently live in Hamburg outside of downtown buffalo. Didn't know this many people from buffalo posted on here so thats kinda cool.

If you're coming into the buffalo area and want to stay local the downtown seneca casino does not offer poker and most likely never will. Reason being it would destroy the seneca falls casino's poker room. I've talked to many of the dealers regs, and pitboss's about this scenario and sadly it will never be.

If you're a 1-2 player I suggest going to seneca and playing, free drinks, Thursday they have high hands for I believe 300$ and for the most part, seneca is one of the best casinos on the east coast IMO.

Seneca falls does have on occasion a 2-5 nl usually 2-3 times a week ( they actually got a MASSIVE 5-10 game going a couple days ago )

Right across the border they have casino Niagara which is a session fee of 6$ every 30 mins for 1-3. They also have 2-5, however again IMO if you want better games for higher stakes just go to falls view casino. Never seen so much action in those game in my life.

I played at Seneca Niagara on American side recently and I wasn't paying attention and I'm just wondering what is the max rake taken out of each hand? How does it play out?

Thanks!

I believe, its the rake for Seneca is low.. However I only play at a couple casino's. I believe its around 3-5 dollars, however the dealers are very fast to put in a rake break if the table isn't full.

Especially if the scenario comes up where there is 2-3 regs at a table and its not full, the dealers will unofficially take less take.

Sorry it's not an accurate amount you would think for someone who plays 40/hrs a week there I would know.

If nobody responds with the accurate amount Ill let you know of Thursday night the official amount.

rake at Seneca is 5+1 so $6 max per hand. the odd part that they auto take $3 whenever theres a flop (which sucks for small pots). Then I believe they take $1 at 20, $1 at 30 and $1 at 40.

edit: it may actually be $2 at 20 and $1 at 40 not sure

If they haven't raised the rake it should be 4+1. The 3 on the flop rake is accurate. If you are playing 1/2 just don't limp first up(you virtually should never anyway), so you can either win without a flop or max out the rake before the 4th dollar is taken and that the hand can qualify for the BBJ.

My opinion is that poker in downtown Buffalo would be insane. I picture a lot of drunk wannabe world poker tour stars throwing away their rent money, reminiscent of the mid 2000's.
