Yes Universum is now in Lurdy Ház, which sadly is still out of the city. All other poker clubs have now closed as I'm aware.

The rake at 50/50 is 10% up to 2500 or so forint. But higher stakes have better rake. I was playing in a 100/100 PLO game and it was 7% rake but same cap.

There are usually a few 50/50 NLHE games running at all times and finding higher action or the occasional PLO is pretty easy during evening and weekends.

Cool, a big thanks for the info, as I was planning on spending a bit of time there soon, and having some decent games around has become kind of important. I was worried about the rake, but as I remembered as well the cap is the same in the higher games. It's still pretty bad though; I guess there aren't often 500/500 games running? Unless the 100/100 plays really big it still doesn't seem great.

If Universum now is where Miami Poker Room used to be, that's definitely a ways away from what I'd consider downtown but not unmanageable via public transit.

Also, if Uber is still legal and running by the time you get to Budapest, I'd very strongly recommend it. I took it a bunch of times while I was there recently and the service was excellent and the prices unbelievably cheap (compared to US taxi and Uber pricing).

I don't know where miami used to be, but I checked the map and it seemed slightly closer to the central part of the city than where it used to be, but I'm also just familiar with the location, it's to the south sort of on the fringe, funny because it's real close to an old industrial complex where I've been a few times for a party.

I'll definitely take a look into Uber, I don't doubt it's cheap. The other option is the tram to the second tram; I don't love the tram, it also doesn't run after whatever hour, I forget when that is.

There are alot of regulars who will sit down with 1000 bigs if they're not stopped by the dealer so the games do play huge. People also hate folding so 1k raises in 50/50 usually gets a few callers.

500/500 will run occasionally, I was asked by the room manager if I wanted to play last time i was there but that's too big for me :-) I'd love to play Ofc or mixgames but I think both are super rare here.

Über to the poker club is about 1500 each way, so if you're rolling 500/500 i cant imagine this is a problem for you

So Universum is the only place to play? What cash games do they get regularly? How many tables? Thanks.

universum closed 2 months back, lurdy haz has been the replacement (lots of the dealers/floor managers from universum work there now). When I went they had a 100/200HUF game running (equivalent to .36/.73USD) but half the table was 300bb+ deep and there were straddles like every other hand. I hear they run up to 500/500. Rake is 5% up to 3000HUF in the 100/200 game.

I'm a 21 year old guy from canada currently staying in budapest for a month or two with a roommate and don't really know anyone so if anyones interested in arranging a meet to hang out and stuff swing me a pm

Hi,

I'm just registered to this forum because I wanted to contact you, but because of the newbie-rule I apparently can't send you PM's (bit annoying, but whatever) so lets' hope you read this.

I'm a 21 year old Belgian guy travelling a bit through Europe. I'm in Budapest at the moment, and I think it would be nice to maybe meet up and talk/discuss/play some poker? I would like to play some lowstakes NLH in Budapest, but the information on the Lurdy Haz site confuses me a little bit.

So just let me know if you want to hang out sometime! I'll be here for atleast 1 more week I think.

Hopefully someone with more recent info will chime in, but I think the biggest game you will find is a 500/500 game as stated a few posts up. Apparently it does play pretty big.

is it easy to reach from city center?

I can't answer your question because I don't know what area you mean by "city center." However, the following links should give you directions from anywhere in the city.

There's a route planner website here:

http://www.bkk.hu/en/timetables/

There's also a very good app for your smartphone here:

Hey guys, i'm considering spending like 3 months in Budapest to grind online poker (Basically, i loved the city and would like to get used to it and to its timezone in time for WCOOP)

I'd appreciate some overall information, if internet is reliable, what are the good places to stay, avg rent cost, all that stuff

Also, is there any Skype group about Budapest? I'd really appreciate getting all the info before going there

Ummmm, internet is stable for the most part, I had no issues, rent depends on lengh and time (cause of erasmos students) usually if u want 1-3months u will be better off renting airbnb and getting a discount, if u want to rent from websites get a realtor (half the listings are fake)

There is a skype group however it's for people living there right now, don't need chat with people asking 1000X questions, there is a facebook group you can join (It's not really active)

https://www.facebook.com/groups/268805806543673/

You can ask more questions there, if u decide to come to Budapest myself or someone will def add you to the group!

Hey!

So I saw u had a facebook group where you could ask questions but how big the foreigner poker community in Budapest? Im considering moving there, but Im not a big fan of living abroad alone so IŽd prefer a poker house in a good district with 2-3 other poker players. Where is the best place to find options? Btw Im a 60s-100s spin reg with good economy.

Anyone else currently living in Budapest? I just moved back in January and I signed a 2 year lease here. Know a few other poker guys who are here (and some who are here part time but not currently here) and a few different groups of non poker people too.

Hey guys🙂

I know it's quite silly to ask at these thread, but I simply cannot find any Germany thread here, so due to Germany/Austria/Hungary proximity I decide to post my question here lol

I'm going to Chemnitz, Germany for a month (flight departing tonight)

I wonder if any one know any nearby casino to play some poker, NLHM mainly, wouldn't mind PLO, I dare not assuming BRAVO poker app would work in Europe

According to google map, it seems pretty close to Cash Kings' at Czech, but again I'm not quite sure how transport works and don't speak a word of German

Thank you 🙂
