There is no specific training for poker dealers in the UK, bar a few crappy schools that are bolt-ons to casino schools (which are are rip off anyway as most provincial casinos run in-house training).....so only dealers who actually grind/or understand that mentality are ever going to be good at their job.

My golden rule, whenever someone has asked me for advise about dealing, is that the dealer must have A SENSE OF URGENCY at all times.

I love point three. I've played a bit of poker in Auckland, and the dealers washed the cards before putting them in to the shuffler, and when taking them out, stripped them! Why not just add in two riffles you've shuffled yourself!

This rainbow casino used to be a Gala yes? In that case it must be a throwback from Gala's rules (in London anyway) which is that at the end of the hand the dealer must count down the pot, apparently for the camera, to verify its amount before taxing it......but the pot can't be stacked before the end of the hand. Absolutely ****ing pointless.

Yeah, it's the Gala. All the staff are the same basically.

Awful. I was taught, if you don't know the pot size exactly, its better to guess the rake than stop the game, count the pot and thereby bringing attention to how much is leaving it!

A couple of good dealers at the Empire cap the muck with the current rake, street by street, like the yanks do with the $4 chip on the drop box, which is a VERY nice touch imo

I've noticed that the more experienced Rainbow dealers do this.

Sure you can forward it on. I meant for this topic to be posted in the main forum so that other casinos could try and rectify the same problems. For e.g. the Genting Casino in Reading has the same issues.

Hi all -

Will be visiting Bristol later this year - does anyone know what the cash games are like at this location? In terms of stakes, tables running, action, skill level etc.

Only info on their website is as follows:

"CASH POKER

5pm-7am mon-fri, and 3pm-7am Sat &Sun"

Also, any info on Genting Casino? I get the feel they may not run cash games at all but not sure.
