went last night and the place was packed. they had cash giveaways, a mariachi band, free food, and gave away free t shirts.

had 2 3/5s and 2 2/2s running. I won 500 but the big winner or the biggest pot i saw was this asian reg, younger guy name starts with M, vs some older guy who IMO probably read a few books but still has some big leaks.

everyone limps or folds to M, he raises to 30 from BB i think.

Vil calls and 1 older middle eastern guy calls.

FLOP K J 6, 2 hearts M leads for like 75 i think, both call

TURN K J 6 x, still 2 hearts M leads huge like 330, vil tanks then shove for like 400 more, older middle eastern guy angryily mucks and shows K2hh for FD, M acted out of turn leaving the older guy in a good spot soince he knew his odds right away and had the smalles stacks

RIVER K J 6 x 6, flush draw hits, M shows KJ, Vil shows AK

he then told his neighbor who is friends with M that he thought M was drunk and over valued his hand. hell everyone at the table figured it was a set ovet set spot.

I love that they lifted the 2-2 game to $200 max.

bill can mix up his play a bit, but when he starts putting the big money (for that game) in the middle, he almost for sure has you beat. the c/r min-raise the turn used to be called the "stack a donk" line. i think AQ leads flop or just c/c's the whole way to let you "bluff" at it, since he most likely views you as aggressive. i think its a fold.

so he has either QQ or A3 here? not sure who Bill M is exactly but if hes the old guy with all white hair and glasses then on paper seems like a fold but i dont have a lot of history. im sure with ur image OG i could see a call with A3 or even a flat with QQ.

one thing that ive been hating lately is soft playing. today some guy donked stupid small into me and said, you are cool buddy or some sht and i shoved into him. but im tired of the whole oh its HU im gonna check it down. then when we get into a decent hand Vils will play aggro VS me. IDK i like it when people play back at me for the competition alone.

I'd iso to $20-$25, $35 seems way too big and can end up forcing yourself into bloated pots, this is especially an issue if you have short stacks behind you because once they call the stack to pot ratio can get super low which will make it hard to barrel. I think it also might cost you money in the long since hands like K8, Q9, A9 and other marginal hands who would play for $20 might fold to $35, and hands like 56s and small pairs are more inclined to call since they know it's going to be a big multiway pot and all they need is to flop a set. So the raise size manipulates everyone's calling range to include more cracker hands that will only give you action if they have you crushed.

The only hand that bill can have here I think is a slow played aces or pocket 9s. I've seen him play a few hands from behind while waiting for a game to open and he's positionally aware and pretty snug, I think he'd toss K10 in this spot for example. If you made it $20 I think his range would be a little wider, but since you raised so large and since he's in the SB his hand looks like pocket pairs, the worst hand I think he could have is AK, I doubt he'd c/r w. AQ, super super doubtful, i've seen him bet/fold AJ on a Jxx board before, he's not one of those "omg top pair lolz" It's hard to put him on a hand but your line looks really strong so it's hard for him to be making a play. I'd fold, there's better spots trust me haha.

Against a complete unknown though, in a 3/5 game, it's read based. Some players might think QK is the nuts in this spot, others are only taking this line with 3x. Against an unknown who's over the age of 45 I think this is a snap fold. Old people just don't make 'plays' enough for this ever to be a call. You're playing for stacks.

I agree, you see it at GW all the time. What happens is regulars play with each other so long they become friends, and the soft play begins. You get this Mr. Rodgers poker culture of checking it down, people announcing their hand, or just straight up flipping them over to see who wins.

I personally never do this, but you should think of ways to exploit it. Players only try to make this verbal deals with non-nut hands. It's like a blocking bet, they want to get to showdown without having to face another tough decision. Once someone says "allright, whatever you wanna do, CHECK" or "if I call wanna check it down?" or anything like that, i would turn the aggression up & start taking hands out of their range.

Is that guy going to bet $30 into $100 and say "its ok, you're cool bro, i'll show you" if he had a fullhouse? Hell no.

There was a hand I played last year where I bluff-raised a 692r flop w. QK, I raised flop he called. My plan was to shutdown if called but then he said "whatever u wanna do man, check it" so I shoved like $120 into a $100 pot on the turn, he folded. I would not have made the play unless he said what he did.

You want them to keep doing it, so when you shove it in their face a few times make sure to lie about how you had top set and "didnt want a bad beat" and that you're stuck $300 lol.

The guy thinks he has you and is nice enough to tell you he'll show and before he even finishes his speech you're like "i'm all in" - You were 100% thug right there. It was like watching a fight where he tries to shake your hand to tell you he's sorry you lost, and as he puts his hand out you blast him in the face with the first of justice.

I played a session with that guy a year ago. He had a pokerstars hat and shirt one skin tight, and was wearing shades. I asked how long it took to earn the shirt from pokerstars and he said he bought them on EBAY. What!

I also wanted you to bust him because 2 hands before your dropped your soul crushing bomb of justice on his head he talked about how he "needed to leave for work" after you busted him he played his $20 for like 3 hours. Oh, work huh? Yeah right haha.

dropped 400 today at 3/5 morning session before work. i paid off the loosest at the table whos been bluffing crazy and showing. I have KQss on BTN, i bet K 2 3 flop 50, he snaps, turn 10, i bet 80, he raises 100 more, i call he has 1010. maybe i shoildnt have called but i guess the one time he makes the 100 bet he has a hand and its VS me. Oh yea he also caught a GS on someone else ont he river to stack him.

he went from 300-1200-200 in about 2 hours. i think right after my hand he bluffed off 300 to Eddie C. his name starts with a C, hes a big blackjack degen there.

I dont know what it is but i can never put togetehr a good session at 3/5 in the AM. Its not even reallyt he players since i play with a lot of them at 2/2. I never get hands and i always seem to run into bigger hands when i do get them. The evebing usually has better players but its crazy.

Oh and now the first NL game they run is 1/2 40 max then 3/5, then 2/2. SO i wont be going as much as before in the AM.

I've been playing the past few days in Hawaii, but I can't talk about it due to legality issues (hi Rapini!). Played both sessions with a stud NFL lineman. Be back to donate to your kids' college funds next week.

theres this guy that plays there, older man has a limp left wrist. not exact on positions but basicaly i 3bet him then short stack goes AI, he flats and i raise again 100 more, he instacalls leaving like 40ish behind.

i have 1010, he has KQ, obv K on flop i call the rest blah blah blah. the part that i shake my head at is he then starts talking sht like I had to call i had the 2nd best hand and how he had me the whole way and stuff. oh well some people never learn i guess.

anyway, showed up Saturday (the only time I can play nowadays as I'm working 10 hour days 6 days a week auditing at Oxy) trying to get into a great looking 3-5 game with the biggest fish in the 661 sitting in seat 8. Got bored dumped $250 at pai gow, cruised over to Fishlips and got hammered at the reggae concert, came back to G dub and dropped $300 more at pai gow piss drunk. Luckily my cousin Sal took my wallet from me or else I would have trucked off whoknows how much. Ran into Axiom towards the end of the night/early AM. Cool dude. Yeah I played 3-5 for 8 hours, was stuck $250 for a while but after I re bought left up $85, but lost $200 previous day. was up $200+ but my kings ran into aces, no biggie he was only $200 deep.

yesa thts him. i had issues with him before. didnt know that about him though. doesnt he have a son or someone young related to him that plays as well? hes younger with curly black hair, i think he plays 3/5 now.
