Sorry. I should have also said I have not played enough in the last two months to justify any comps or hotel discounts.

You've overstated your case. True enough, room rates are based more directly on ADP. However, since there is a correlation between ADP and number of tier points, your statement that rates have "absolutely nothing" to do with tier points is absolutely false.

Stated otherwise, in order to hit nearly 30,000 tier points by October, your ADP needs to be fairly decent too (assuming one is not at the casino every other day grinding 50 points at a pop). I have no idea what my ADP is; I do, however, know that I typically earn between 500 - 1000 tier points a day while in AC, resulting currently in 27,000 . . . And that's why I brought it up . . .

Now, carry on . . .

I stay at the chairman tower maybe once or twice a week , and have yet to have one woman complain that the room was shoddy. You usually just stay at the Waldorf?

You failed to mention the bolded. All you mentioned was your total without any indication of frequency of visits, which is why it was a meaningless statistic without context. There are plenty of people who are in there 5 days/week and so would have an extremely low ADP with that total.

My post was in response to both you and that other guy who saw cheaper rates with only 9700 total points - those 2 posts just show that totals don't matter without knowing frequency of visits (i.e. some context). My post was meant for all cases in general, not yours specifically.

So harrahs was full of old nits. So was ballys. Borgata game has been soft and lively though with younger players and a better atmosphere in every way.

Harrahs hotel not very impressive. Place feels worn out. Shouldve just paid the extra to stay at borgata.

Didnt walk around at night. Daytime was nice to take a walk on the boardwalk. Gilchrists is a great place to go for breakfast.

Curious to see what will happen to this place in the future, and enjoyed the 2 days/2nights here, but doubt I'll be back.

Harrah's has 4 different buildings, and the age and quality vary widely. I can't remember any of the names of them, but I think quality rankings can be found in posts from a few years ago in the Harrah's thread.

Judge decided that the Union wasn't needed at the Taj.

http://6abc.com/news/judge-voids-taj...ntract/355002/

May save the casino/hotel? But .... this will make for disgruntled employees.

You have to empathize with the people that are first threatened with job loss, and now the judge is throwing out the Union that represents most of them. Their pensions and health insurance directly affected.

Another picket line to be set up next week. That can't help business. Who wants to go to an entertainment place where you know its employees are not feeling happy?

Asking the state and city for $175 million? Who is going to pay this? The citizens of New Jersey, of course. Do we really need this place?

The 3,000 employees do, and are between a rock and a hard spot.

It's not even remotely dangerous at night either, unless maybe you keep walking past Revel.

Don't go into casino parking lots after dark, especially the Taj.
This isn't bad advice, but I can't say it's good advice either (except Taj). If you're afraid of the 30 second walk to your car, you probably live in fear every day. I've never felt unsafe for a moment in the garages.

Common sense reduces the risk. When leaving the casino after cashing out at the cage, make sure you're not being followed. And when in the garage, if you just won 20k on the slots, don't go hollering about it on the way to the car.

Of course, valet avoids it altogether. But if you didn't use valet, and you want to leave, and it's night, are you suggesting to wait several hours til the morning just to avoid the garage at night?

this is exactly right. the boardwalk is probably the safest part of the city at all times of day and night. always lit, cops patrol it, casino's have cameras and security nearby. never a problem (unless you "maybe" north of revel... and even there i'm not sure its dangerous... it's just darker and not as heavily trafficed.

taj is the ONLY garage to be fearful of in AC

I have never used taj parking. What makes taj's less safe than other casino garage?

I don't know that there is a particular reason why the parking lot would be more dangerous than others, but there have been a lot of incidents there. Of course I parked there all the time and never felt unsafe.

Really? Just valet and avoid the BS. $10 to be safe. Seems reasonable to me unless you have an upgraded card and it's free. I'd call 10 bucks or more preflop on a +EV situation. My safety is +EV. Or be cheap Park in garage get carjacked, robbed, etc. Not that I believe any of that would happen but that's the smart choice if you have any concerns over your safety.

i remember about 7 or 8 years ago we stayed at the taj. parked in the garage walked to the end of the aisle and looked to my right to see a big fat guy taking a piss beside his car. the elevator was right there i guess he couldnt hold it for 3 more minutes until he got to the casino floor.
once we stayed at the the super 8 down a few blocks down from the taj.it was 1 of our first stays in ac. walked from the taj on the boardwalk at probably 3 or 4 in the morning and was approached by guy and a girl asking if we could spare some change. when i reach in my pocket to grab some money i had some chips still in there .the girl heard them clack around and said "o you got chips huh" i didnt exactly feel threatened but it was a little uncomfortable/scary i have to say.

taj doesn't patrol their garage, have cameras in or near their garages and does nothing to discourage shady or homeless individuals from being in their garage... even after publicized muggings and murders.

i can't speak to exactly what other garages do have... but i've seen security and cameras in all that i can remember other than taj and simply see less people "hanging around" in them.

Parking garages in general are not great places to be in at night.

you can say that about almost anything. sometimes people want to go to a casino at night and need to park their car. point is, all parking garages seem fine except taj. no one is saying hang out in the garage.

I'd be shocked if it happened before next summer, and even next summer might be wishful thinking. The sale isn't even final and they still have to get approval from the state and hire a few thousand employees.

Hiring the employees shouldn't take too long. There are now thousands of experienced, qualified ex-casino workers in the AC area who would be willing to start tomorrow if asked to. Theoretically, they could open the week after getting final approval, if they didn't want to make any changes to the building, but they no doubt would want to make some changes, redesign a few things to try to respond to peoples complaints about the property. If they decide to do a complete makeover, it might be quite awhile.

Closing of the sale date was projected to be mid-December. No reason to think differently at this point.

Two weeks before Memorial Day weekend would be a good target for re-opening date.

Time for minor cosmetic changes, hiring, fast tracked NJDGE approvals and licensing and beginning a full force marketing program?
