trop was pretty popular around then and doubled their room size then as well, but i don't know about that game. i doubt it was a regular game if it did run. 2-4 limit was the main game then.

I think the guy accidentally added a decimal place and an "no".

He really used to play 7.50/15 Limit at the Trop from 2005-2008.

Id loved playing in the "pink chip game" back in the day there. As for 75/150 NL, never. The biggest game there at that time was the 15/30/45 Stud H/L game in the high limit area of the room. It was usually the same 8 players every day, the average age was about 75, and there was 3 or 4 oxygen tanks in that game

Wasn't this the 750/1500 NL that would often start at 8AM on weekdays, Monday through Thursday? All the pros were in those games....

Next time tell him you play online 75/150NL. If he questions why you're at 1/2 answer like Jimmy the Greek: "Hey, it's action. Isn't it?"

The only games in all of AC that have ever been spread as a $75/150 game are you limit games(ie) they did spread $75/150 LHE at the Trop but it was never a staple game by any means and it was WAY before 2005. The highest game the Trop ever spread that went off on a regular basis was the $40/80 stud.

I was at the Taj two nights ago. I didn't look very closely but it does not appear that anything is moving forward to open up the poker room again any time soon. That place in general is a mess. I was there for about an hour and had to leave.

<3 this.

In my estimation I've never heard NL spread at such a goofy denomination, 100/200, sure, which is why it raised some red flags. He might have said the Taj, but either way I doubt that changes things right?

Anyhow, thanks for validating guys.

Doesn't change a thing. There's never been a NL game of that size(or even close to those numbers) anywhere in AC. And in 2005, no less? No way.

$75/150 Limit Holdem was a staple game at the Taj back in the day, so, maybe he misspoke...but I'd bet more on Rapini being Queen.

What about the 300/600 limit game at the Taj that Mike McDermott supposedly sat in and outplayed Johnny Chan for that one hand in Rounders?

Surely the game was an actual game that ran at Taj at the time. Or at least you would think that the writers of the movie confirmed it before putting it in the film!

Plus Mike sat with only $6k when Kinish told him he needed to sit with $50-60k!

Were the high limit games really THAT big back then???

I recall there being 75/150 seven stud at the Taj as well.

I also recall that every single player at the table looked like they were just finished having an enema. The least happy group of players I've ever seen.

And once in a while at the Trop as well. But the stud players definitely favored the Taj.

They were bigger!

Seriously, I remember walking in on any given Friday/Saturday night and seeing two $75/150 stud games, one $75/150 LHE, a $400/800 stud..with a list! a 1k/2k stud...with a list! and a heads up game of 2k/4k with(two players who I can not announce on 2+2). And when Roger King(from King enterprises) was in town, then the stakes were even bigger with everyone playing off of one bankroll trying to lampoon the lone fish.

No Limit? What's that? Everything was limit. And it was awesome poker!

However, I think that Johnny Chan scene that you saw was exactly that---it was just a scene for the movie. But, like I said, the taj did spread those limits, so technically, Rounders wasn't just fabricating it. (good movie).

Anyone know if you can live in a hotel and play poker, accumulate comps and get rooms for free almost every night?

Probably tough to do. The best way I can think of is to be a total rewards 7star and play suuuuper long sessions at the highest stakes possible and hope to get some of those "room comps" the poker room offers.

It would have to be in the off season when room rates are lowest.

And even then its probably not doable.

Maybe if you had a buddy that could grind out harrahs while you grind ballys and chop comps and share rooms.

Interested to see if anyone else has a better plan.

There is a law in AC that a player cannot get more than two comped nights in a row. So, this cannot be done at one casino. Perhaps spread out over a few.

I meant more than two comped nights in a row at the same hotel.

When did this law come about? I had 3 nights at showboat 2 summers ago

I wasn't able to find anything via Google regarding a law limiting comped rooms in AC to two consecutive nights, so I'd be interested to see it too.

I think you can get 2 nights without much problem, and a 3rd does happen for some people. If you were grinding 3 different comp groups (Total Rewards, Borg, GN, Trop) you might be able to hop around.

I suspect Fri/Sat will be the tougher ones to swing. I suppose you don't need to sleep indoors every night

not that great a story, but just got back from Vegas. overheard a table of college aged kids wondering aloud if AC was anything like Vegas. a few of them made the case that it was. their interpretation of the city was so off base i almost jumped into the conversation. Makes me wonder if people far from the east coast think AC is a lot better than it actually is.

this is all. carry on.

Although I thought it was law perhaps these were hotel policies (for poker player comps?). I was told two nights max comp at Taj, Showboat and Revel when I was playing in AC a lot, circa 2008-2014.

Best to simply check with the casino before making such plans.

Ugh, next time please don't tell people it's law if you don't know for sure; at least say something like "I think there's a law" or an equivalent.
