Breakfast in AC, there shouldn't even be a debate. Gilchrist or Lenox Cafe next to Tropicana. Lenox is a little hole in the wall joint and its amazing.
Johnny rockets? Seriously. Gross

My comments are infinitely more constructive than these people suggesting newcomers to AC go to Johnny Rockets.

I'll take that as a "no." Fair enough. Please don't bother posting then.

I don't think today was ever a plan except in Straub's head. Something he threw out so when it didn't happen he could sing another chorus of "Well, *I* would have the place open, but the state's in my way."

Bummer. Hope he sells it to someone who is willing to put in the effort to get it open.

I've gotten some free rooms at Harrah's recently and I want to go play again next weekend. No rooms are available. They are however offering me a free room at ceasers on the total rewards site. Since its the same owners is it cool if I stay at one and give all my play to the other? Or is that a violation of rules? I wouldn't gamble a dollar at ceasers.

it's definitely not a violation of rules. i don't think it's A-hole-ish either. they gave you the rates based on past play and any other info they have on you (address, known credit cards, whatever). if you stay and don't give them play at that very casino you may see a reduction in offers.

i would have zero problem staying at caesars if it was the best rate and playing 100% elsewhere.

(i haven't studied caesars comps nearly as much as i've studied borgatas... but it seems to me the ceasars properties generally share their rating... i get the same offers at all similar AC or vegas properties even if i've never stepped foot in some of them)

Thanks, I'm planning a months long trip and hitting up multiple cities/rooms along the way. The logistics of it are making my head spin.

I worked for Caesars in AC ~ 5 years ago. At that time anyway they would have zero problem with you staying at one property and gambling at another of theirs. In fact, they would have encouraged it; we actively tried to figure out ways to have customers visit more than one of our properties in a trip. I am pretty confident that would still be the case today.

They're not close at all. He already said it's not opening. And the plan was to open the hotel only since he hasn't even submitted his application to operate a casino. He is trying to have the courts rule that he doesn't need to be approved because he's having an approved operator run the casino. There is precedent in AC that a licence is still required of the property owner.

This time, he has actually said that there's no reason to open just a hotel without a casino, and says "we're stubborn" so it seems he doesn't even plan on opening it. It seems now he's more interested in selling it. He even took down the $2M rope climbing course they installed, probably so it looks more like a casino to potential buyers. The group that bought the Taj looked into buying Revel first, and other potential buyers have inquired and/or visited recently. I'm thinking the terrible layout of the building is turning buyers off. They probably can't even envision how to make it work.

What about nice places for lunch on/around the boardwalk area?

I think so. I am not sure if the Total Rewards Shuttle still runs (I read it was discontinued and then brought back) but it doesn't make sense that they would shuttle people between their properties if they were not happy to have them play at any or all of them.

Girasole has a really good lunch price fixe menu , the continental at the pier , white house subs , casa De taco at the trop has a good happy hour , same with palms at the trop , for a little out the box , Toney baloneys, docks for seafood.

Also. It doesnt matter where you stay / play. I've been giving action to the Cromwell and rio and have been staying at the ph , host said it does not matter as tier points are tier points , but would prefer (as a host) that you play at their casino , but it really doesn't matter.

I second Continental and Dock's. Haven't been to the others.

Thanks for the advice I will report back as I am going to AC on Tuesday. On another note the reason for my visit (besides comp room at Borgata) was to look at condos for an investment property. Seems like there are some bargains and I see AC with potential to grow again with Hard Rock, Stockton University and other non-gaming initiatives.

Thoughts?

I agree that prices have nowhere to go but up given the various developments in the works. The Bella condos have the best amenities in the city and are a bargain right now.

+1. Alot of foreclosures in there and they can be picked up for cheap. Heard alot of the units need work, there were some pretty bad tenants that lived there

Nothingg wrong with that imo. Casinos take money from people, they can make it without you give said casino action.

Going up to ac tomorrow for a week. First time in like 3-4 years for me and I'm so excited. I love the seediness of ac + the tangier outlets are nice.

Any thoughts on walking on boardwalk early in morning like 5-7 am? I assume it's not too seedy at those times with the sun up. planning to play 10-15 mtts so prolly won't be on boardwalk too much but will prolly take a day off to hit the outlet mall and boardwalk.

Thank you for this. I'm going to book ceasers and play at harrahs for the ac portion of my trip.

We did a light lunch at Continental, it was only ok. Dinner was at Cafe 2825, excellent!

As for property we looked at units in the Bella and while there are some really good deals I was not sold on how easy it would be to rent out and make the numbers work. They only allow leases for 3 months or longer so no weekly. That said it is a very nice building with great amenities.

Looked at Brigantine and I loved beach and seem to be some good deals there for vacation homes that do allow short term rents.

Other than that won in blackjack and lost in poker...

All things considered (rooms, location...), where would you stay in Atlantic City for a 3 day trip with a group of guys? All places are comped. Poker is not relevant.

Caesars Palace
Ballys
Harrahs

Thanks

If you like the boardwalk , rock music and beer pong. Staying at Caesars and partying at ballys www is the play , if you like pool parties and hip hop and proximity to borgata , harrahs is the play.

Myrna's post is pretty spot on. The big attraction for Harrah's is The Pool which serves as their nightclub, which was the best in AC when I left 5 years ago. If that's important to you/something you guys will do for 2 of the nights probably worth staying there.

Otherwise Caesars gives you the immediate access to the beach and boardwalk which is good to have for a 3 day trip imo. Harrah's is in what's called the Marina district, which does not have any real foot traffic (there are paths between the three casinos there, but nothing to see/do walking around). Taxi/ubers (does AC have uber?) between the marina and boardwalk should be $10-$15 I imagine so not too tough moving back and forth.

Definitely stay at Caesars not Bally's if you go for the boardwalk, significant difference in room quality as of 5 years ago and I'd be very surprised if that has changed. Bally's was pretty run-down and I'd be surprised if that's where they've invested their money for upgrades. Bally's is fine for grabbing drinks though.
