I got vaccinated (first shot, 2nd scheduled for a few weeks from now) by doing a 6 hour volunteer shift.

The shifts aren't going as quickly now that everyone knows they are opening up, so why don't you do that instead. They are going to need volunteers:

When I volunteered I noticed that like 95% of the people working the sites are volunteers. I will probably do another shift just to do my part.

I’m going to wait until the next few days happen. I’m sure people are waiting to see how easy it is to get a vaccine appointment when it opens up today and if they don’t get one then they will volunteer.

Arizona opened up 16yo+ in their state-run PODs this morning. I booked this morning for an appointment this afternoon. Took 40 minutes to get a spot (they would come and go, always booking by the time I got there), then there were like 100's (??), grabbed the first one my cursor was over which turned into 13:27 PDT. Note: my occupation was "other" and I have checked the 'comorbidity' box to indicate my dibeetus which was never enough to get me to even see an appointment prior to this morning.

Showed up about 1pm, could/should have arrived earlier. They didn't check the time, just _if_ I had an appointment (I was within 20min, they say show up 15 min early. I suggest as early as you can)(Don't blame me if they turn you away :-)). Lots of people in cars zig-zagging thru a large parking lot. Questions regarding current health, exposure to C-19, treatment for C-19, etc. Nothing about age, job, etc. They looked at my ID to see if it matched the name on the appointment, but they didn't take any information. They eventually have about 7-10 lanes going thru at once, then a queue that miraculously takes 15 minutes to clear.

They gave me a card with dose info and 2nd appointment, which they made with you while waiting to die or be released. After 15 minutes, if you haven't died or become incapacitated with anaphylaxis, they turn you loose.

It took longer than anticipated, but, all in all, it wasn't too bad. Thank god it wasn't June, right?

I'm considering doing it and if they ask for proof just say "I'm not a healthcare worker at the moment but I'm looking for work in that field." or something like that.

May as well use one of the open spots that would go to waste, right? Or would that be unethical?
They're not there to confirm you are eligible. They're there to process you and get you the shot. Healthcare workers and teachers have had plenty of time to get their shot. I don't think it would be unethical to slip into those slots especially if getting the shot is gonna make you feel more at ease and get you back to live poker sooner. I wouldn't lie or make up any stories if asked. Just say "I answered the questions and it gave me an appointment". They won't asked.

The AZDHS site is the curs. Twice it has shown me an appointment is available, that disappears in the 1 second before I click BOOk.

When it’s happened two hundred times, you are officially ok to start complaining. Hang in there and try at 4 in the morning (less competition)

Next time they announce what time they’re opening slots, start refreshing 15-20 min early. I got a spot for me and one for each of my two teenagers. Also called a friend who got one, all before 8am when they were supposed to become available.

Or save your time and volunteer 6 hours and get the shot.

Not to derail but I'm irked because I was technically in an 'essential' class but suddenly made equal priority to 16 year olds.

Ducey wanted to open everything up. So he had to make the vaccine available to all before doing so. Such scum.

He caved to the pressure just like he did when he opened up too early last May. Hopefully these vaccinations can outpace the variants.

Wish TSR would open all their tables already. I want live tournaments back! The ones that run right now are absolute garbage (Rake, structure, and player cap).

Hopefully they open more tables ASAP. The wait list for 3/300 yesterday at noon was 53 people.

Sports betting passed. I wonder if the any of the casinos will add in vegas style sportsbooks with the giant TVs and seating areas.

Baccarat, craps and roulette are expected to be legalized too in the new compact with the tribes. The exact details are STILL secret which sounds super shady but oh well.

I think it might help. There will be plenty of people laying down some wagers and then sitting at the poker tables watching the games. Also I think this will take away their focus from the poker game. We'll have to remind people it's their turn more though.

Are you concerned people may go broke?
