Isn't it a time game though? Really the house gets less per hour if so. Most places drop the time charge for shorthanded, but it theoretically there's no good reason for a reduction.

Agreed if talking about a time game but thought he was talking about rake games.

Maybe it has changed but 3-5 used to be raked, 5-10 and above time charge.

I was referring only to raked games, 1-2, 1-3, 2-3, and (4-8 limit). The games where a $10 pot gets $4 (40%) dropped.

Wild Horse Pass is throwing a lot of money at poker players for their New Years promos.

$100 splash pot + $100 hot seat every 15 min from 9pm-1:30am. And then a $2021 giveaway at 1:30am.

$200 per 15 min * 19 times + $2021 at the end = $5821 / 70 seats (10 tables, 7 per table) = $83.16 in EV per player if they stay the whole time. $18.48/hr on average ($12.06/hr if you don't stay for the final giveaway)

I think you get a $1/hr comp for regular play so you can add that to your EV as well.

They've been doing a lot of promos recently. The last 2 weekends they had a "spin for free play" promo on their app. I got $20 the first time then $30 the 2nd time.

The last times I saw a WHP poker list this busy were when Neeme came to town and when Talking Stick flooded. TSR isn't even running max tables!

Ah yeah, that was a fun couple months when TSR was shut down. Could drive down to WHP for my lunch break and play an hour of 20/40 OE.

What are the logistics for food/drink during poker sessions? I don't think they're serving food at the tables. I'm assuming they won't let you bring in your own food (like a sandwich or granola bar or whatever).

So if you want to eat after sitting at the tables for hours on end, what is the best option? Run to a restaurant and scarf down some food and then run back to the table? Or run outside to your car where you have some food ready to eat then run back? Worst comes to worst you can rack up and take a break but it could be a long wait until a seat opens up again at the table.

You’ve just about nailed it. Their other two Gila River properties keep the Full House Cafe (coffee shop) open through dinner but, WHP closes their coffee shop at 2 pm. Only Pizza or fatburgers from that point on. They’ll look the other way if you wanna sneak in some snacks which will keep you playing longer but, be discreet. (Eat away from the poker table)

That's annoying. Hopefully later this year will be back to normal.

Are backpacks allowed in casinos anymore?

I tend to pre-game with takeout FF in the casino parking lot, when the weather is nice. Plenty of drive-thru options near TS, at least.

I hope so! I used to bring all my devices/snacks to get me through the session. The parking lot at TS is close so I suppose if I have to keep a cooler in my car that won't be to big a deal. I haven't played since Feb so who knows. The world has changed.

I went to TS in November, they brought drinks to the table and I brought in a bar each night and opened and ate at the table, no one said anything. I didn’t see any full meals....I was also pretty quick to eat and mask up , maybe between bites.

Sigh, AZ is the #1 hotspot for COVID in the entire world right now. Guess I'll hold off on the casinos for a bit.

Ducey is finally doing something useful and advocating for legalized sports betting. The tribal compacts are expiring soon too. I wonder if they will try to remove the betting caps on poker.

According to this article, yes. Mobile wagering too.

In a document given to lawmakers Wednesday, the governor said he has negotiated a new compact with Arizona tribes which now gives them the exclusive right to operate casino-style wagering in Arizona, albeit with certain limits. The deal, he said, will result in both more revenue for the tribes and more money for the state which currently gets a share of tribal revenues.
Not sure what that line means. He already did some kind of secret negotiations with the tribes?

Yes. Politicians don't announce things before they line up their ducks ahead of time. At least not the successful ones.

Looks like WHP has opened up more tables. Bravo is showing 17 games right now during the NFL conference championship games.

They spread TEN 4-8 games yesterday with a list. WHP is now officially the 4-8 capital of the world!
