We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun...

To help at the possible attempt to consolidate Arizona poker threads (from my listing page to the New Gila thread to the New CAZ thread) I'm going to move my Arizona Tribal Casino Listings information here, and only process updates from this thread.

To aid searching, this covers all of Arizona, including the greater Phoenix area, as well as cities like Tucson and those tribal casinos elsewhere in the state. It also covers the following casinos: Wild Horse Pass (Gila River), Vee Quiva, Casino Arizona (CAZ), Fort McDowell (The Fort), Harrah's Ak-Chin, Mazatzal Casino, Cliff Castle Casino, Apache Gold, Bucky's Yavapai, Desert Diamond, Casino Del Sol, Hon-Dah Casino, and the Blue Water casino.

---

The following Google Docs spreadsheet contains basic information on 13 Tribal owned poker rooms in Arizona.

Google Document: Arizona Tribal Casino Poker Rooms

As this is a living document (and an update-able image below), with your help it can provide up-to-date information on what poker games are being spread at what casinos in Arizona.

I make no guarantee of the accuracy of this information. In fact, I know that the first few people who read this spreadsheet will encounter outdated, missing, or other bad information. You can help update this information through PM or by posting in this thread (should it remain popular enough to stay alive).

Should the spreadsheet prove useful to people, I'll add some more at-a-glace information (BBJ basics, rake information) and I'll provide detailed information in other tabs (tournament schedules, desk numbers, hotel information, food service information, etc.).

[At the time of the re-post, I have already added a detail page for one casino, and with your help, I can add more.]

I will gladly provide write access to this spreadsheet to any interested Arizona party with sufficient post-count and reputation who would like to help maintain it. [Google account required, of course.]

[A note to the moderators: This spreadsheet does not contain any strip-mall games, and is 100% Arizona law-abiding. At such a time I have updated strip-mall information, I'll make it available by other means.]

PLEASE HELP UPDATE THIS LIST

PLEASE HELP CONSOLIDATE ARIZONA CASINO POKER INFORMATION

I asked one of CAZ's upper level managers if the new room is going to live up to the uber-hype and she said something like "even more" which is already huge.

I'm looking forward to retiring my seat cushion.

As I was saying...

Many of the "smaller rooms" (discussed HERE) do indeed take a smaller rake, or no rake at all - instead operating on dealer tips only. The legality of those rooms is the subject of much debate, and has been banished to the Poker Legislation forum.

If we're talking "legal" casinos, it's pretty much up to 4+2 most places now, although I have no data for casinos outside of metro Phoenix.

Soft drinks are still free everywhere, but Arizona liquor laws forbid free booze. Places can likely sell penny drinks (or so my binge drinking days remind me), but you HAVE to charge for drinks in Phoenix (IIRC).

Do you know if Gila's gone to 4+2? That's very important to me.

When I was last at Gila they had a sign saying the rake was a max of 3$. They were raking more of course. One of several things that tilts me about that room.

Im down in tucson, but is there a exact date for when the new caz opens? Whats the best rate you can get for the new hotel, if you play poker and some BJ but nothing crazy high stakes? Any good room rate promos?

Was it $1jp + $3 + possibly $1jp again?

I haven't played there (despite its proximity to me) in a couple of days.

Paging Dr. Quadstriker....

No. The rake at Gila has not changed. It's 3+2.

You're mistaken about this. There's no conspiracy. It's 3+2.

This is the rake

$1 @ $5
$1 @ $10
$1 @ $20 for a total of $3

This is the promotion collection (commonly referred to as the bad beat drop, but it really is for all promotions)

$1 before the cards are dealt.
$1 @ $30

Max total collection is taken when the pot reaches $30, $3 rake and $2 promotional.

As an aside...
From my perspective, the addition of the electronic board and service lights for food and chips has made a sizable difference over the last couple weeks. How's it been for others?

I'm perhaps guilty of suggesting it was anything else, after seeing what I thought was 4+2 at Harrah's. I'll watch closely tomorrow and see if I saw wrong. But I swore I saw two peach (or whatever) colored chips going in the main rake and 1+1 in the jackpot/promotion drop.

Harrah's room underwent a management change in the last 4 months, so I guess it's possible the new guy made a change. I was there last week and I didn't notice a change, but then again, I wasn't exactly looking for one either.

Many of the dealers there color up 4 white chips to 2 pink and keep it all in the same spot near the alligator until the hand is over, then drop a pink in the JP slot and a pink plus a white in the rake drop. It would be easy to see them color up and assume the two pinkies both went down the rake. It's possible that's what you saw.

The Harrah's rake schedule to my knowledge is exactly like the Gila one above, with the exception that the 2nd JP dollar is taken at 20 instead of 30 there.

I'll likely be playing some low-limit O8 or Mix after the tiny O8 tournament there tomorrow, so I'll watch closely. You're perhaps correct in describing what I saw and why I might be confused.

3+2 for Hold'em at Harrah's.
4+2 for O8, Stud8, Razz.

New building, more tables, reported self-service coffee/soda (yes?).

Time will tell about how the brush/board will work and what changes this means to the current EXCELLENT tasting food.

This is very important and I hope they realize what an edge they have in this area over the competition.

If Gila would give discount coupons for the food court to the poker players that edge would be eliminated. Put it in the suggestion box, as if that would do any good.
