He is.

O8 was much more popular during the WSOP than all Stud variants. Stud8 and Razz showed up greatly during the 1.5 weeks of Stud tournaments but quickly died down around when the one-drop and PPC started as nearly all but the 10k Stud High event was left to play. The 20/40 Stud8 games stopped completely and the 50/100 S8 game broke as well. And not a single Stud High game ran at all and I'm not sure if it was even in a mix.

LO8 was a constant at 20/40 throughout, very often 75/150, and there were 150/300 O8 at peak O8 tournament times, 10/20 O8 even ran to the final days of WSOP cash.

He obviously was not talking about LO8. He was just mentioning a game that was way deader than stud.

camz: are you really playing omaha live... limit? That sounds like the worst game ever. Do not want.

Considering that the Rio 75-150 O8 game ran around the clock for a month, it's unlikely I was talking about O8. Which is also why I didn't say O8. A friend tried to get the Rio to put Limit Omaha on the board and was told they didn't even have a placard for it. He calls Limit Omaha the "Game of Champions" and we play it every time in the local mixed game.

I wouldn't get too excited about your local mixed game until it spawns at least 2 WSOP bracelet winners

Hey now don't knock it til you try it. That 5/10/15 game is so, so good. Never last than 8 ppl to a flop and usually a raise or two pre...

We've also recently added it to our 10/20HO rotation. Lot of ppl here love it

My only guess is it was something like, the nits of the time realized that calling a paired door on 4th was usually a sucker play, so why not make the suckers pay twice as much if they're going to call anyway?
I would guess the opposite, that it was meant as a way to get people to call the single bet instead of folding. If the suckers were all being scared out by a pair on 4th even for a single bet, then by allowing a double bet you might be able to keep an opponent or two in the pot by making the single bet and "offering them a discount."

OK, thanks for clarifying as I really thought you were saying there were more Stud (any variant) than Omaha (any variant.)

There are several PLO daily games here in Vegas. Without shuffle machines at the Rio, PLO has to be the slowest game for the house to spread. I wouldnt make a plaque for it either if I was managing.

... Sorry, six now that I think about it.
Cheech, Brandon. Nick, Grapes, another guy named Matt and occasionally Chips. Hell we've had three bracelet winners playing in our 25-cent home game on the same night. More than once.

Game selection FTW.

Great game that was very popular on the Gulf Coast, and in The People's Republic of Texas, pre-Moneymaker and pre-Katrina. Usually played with an optional double bet on the river, and sometimes with half blinds. Lot's of traps for rote limit and pot-limit players.

Try it, you'll like it. I always try to get by Boulder Station for a couple of hours when I'm in Vegas. They have a 4-8 half-kill; standard limits and blinds; 7-10 seeing most flops and turns.

Yeah, the Boulder Station LOH 4/8 FK game is pretty fun. You could probably beat it for several bucks an hour, with $400/hr standard deviation or something.

If you really want to make money at LOH, see if the round-by-round is still going 3 days a week at the Motor City in Detroit. LHE/LOH mixed game, and the LHE is a so-so game, but of course the LOH is just totally off the chain.

There is another occasional player in the mixed game who won a LHE bracelet a few years ago, Electrical.

Counted him for the Tuesday Game but don't think he's ever played in the local mix.

True, sounds like a WSOP Europe or Asia event!

I know I'm guilty of getting way off topic too sometimes, but is there any way we could branch off the discussion about particular local games? I've stayed subscribed to this thread because I'm interested in the double bet on 4th, but that actual topic seems to have run its course.
