Re: Summer Vegas mix game twitter list

Mixed games in Vegas don't generate as much action that they do in other parts of the country. They seem to get rocked up by locals who make the game as unpleasant as possible for the tourists. But that's Vegas poker.

In fact I guess the *creation* of a lot of these variants was for the same reason, you start playing 2-7 against people who are used to A-5 and you get a bit of an edge over them, their intuition is no good.

+1 to adding hi/lo with no Q though, or with a declare, or both.
Yeah, I get that, but like I said, I don't play mixed games to play the same damn game 3 different ways.

What do you expect when many of the players are limit O8 players?

Actually many if the games these days are populated by relatively young players whose company is very enjoyable ... almost a home game feel w lots of joking and banter.

Maybe 20% of the games I've played in have been like that. The other 80% have been players watching youtube on their iPhones, unable or unwilling to explain what they were playing to tourists, and unwilling to include familiar games into the mix. Hold 'em bores me as much as anybody, but it's the most familiar game and gives trepidatious people an excuse to play.

Good luck finding a mix game rotation that only has games you're expert in lol. In the past 10 mix game sessions I've played there hasn't been one w fewer than 2 "badugi" games in the rotation (usually of 6-8 games) and they often represent close to half the games in the mix.

You're better off just getting competent at badugi, badeucy and badacey. Strategy is fairly straightforward for those who understand basic concepts of triple draw lowball and split pot games.

Re: Summer Vegas mix game twitter list

I still agree with Chips on this one. It just sucks to play 3 very similar games in a 6 game mix. It just seems silly. There are tons of good mixed games out there that are also not as common and arn't the same damn thing. I would love to play a no qualifier stud h/l or even a stud H/L where you start with 4 cards and ditch one. I think that this would attract a ton of fish.

If there was more material on how to play all the badugi games I would gladly read it, but there is almost no way in the US where I'm from to get experience in these games. I most likely will just pony up and find someone to take some of my action and hope to play 50/100 Stud H/L or something like that this summer.

Quick question: What limits are the only Stud H/L games during the series? And where are they played

There's a persistent 50-100 stud8 game that runs like clockwork throughout the series at the Rio, but the only other single game tables you're likely to see there are one table of 75-150 Omaha8, dozens of NLHE and PLO, BigO (5-card PLO8) and occasionally a table of Chinese. There are a lot of mixed games, and you can get an interest list up on the board for any game, but dealers and tables can be scarce during the day when the tournaments are running. Off hours the floor is much more accommodating about starting games.

You can find 4/8 or 2-10/20 split pot stud8 most days if the wk at Suncoast. Usually just 1 full game which means waiting for players to leave or getting there in the morning when game starts. At rio there should be a 75-150ish stud8 game and not much else in between

For learning badugi, badeucy and badacey, try the draw forums.

Also, I think there is a non-trivial difference between badacey and badeucey in terms of correct strategy.

I would tend to agree with this assessment of mix games in Las Vegas, NV.

there should be a rule; if you are wearing headphones, the minute you have to ask the dealer/another player what the action is you should no longer be allowed to wear headphones @ that table. Tilts me to no end

Dealer: Seat 1, it's on you.

Player 1: No answer.

Dealer: It's On You!

Player 1: After he's been hooked I'll play the one...

Dealer: SEAT 1! IT'S YOUR TURN!

Player 1: mmmf? Oh, sorry. Check.

Dealer: IT'S FIFTEEN TO CALL!.

Player 1: Hmmmmm? Oh, OK. Fold.

Dealer: Seat 2 it's on you.

Player 2: No answer.

Re: Summer Vegas mix game twitter list

Although only the 50/100 Stud 8 runs 24/7 for the most part, there are at times higher stud 8 games running, but not often. I think there was 100/200 a few times last year during the week I was there.

Ok cool. I have only played stud8 live once what is everyones opinion of it live? is it like watching grass grow or do you actually get a decent amount of hands in? I have heard its usually no one under 60 and its ****ing slower than ****. Are you better off playing NL or an actual mixed game than stud8?
