Stud8 Bet on 7th?

Seat 3 is a great stud8 player, I believe this is the bottom of the limits that they play, they are also good at all the stud games imo.

Seat 1 is a fish that I have as a POW in stud8.

No one is ever betting 7th in this had right?

Re: Stud8 Bet on 7th?

I'm no stud 8 expert by any means, but it seems like a lot of their 2-pair outs are dead. I see value in betting, S1 might call w/ any pair, if we're lucky enough that S3 caught the case ace then we're getting value there.

Yes/no?

Unfortunately, I've missed two super thin vbets in 8/b spots like these recently. Bet the river, all one pair hands are calling you.

Re: Stud8 Bet on 7th?

I don't think it's a major tragedy if you don't bet that one. Perhaps there's a thin value bet there, but it's thin. NO two pair hands will fold, but a lot of one pair hands might, thinking you have half the pot with the low, and they're calling for half a pot at best.

Seat 1 is good to have at your table by the looks of this hand.

Is it worth the bet even though, yes, all one pair hands are coming along so is every better hand?

Re: Stud8 Bet on 7th?

Maybe I'm just not a great stud/8 player, but what can seat 3 have besides 888 on third street?

Couldn't possibly have 888 given the action on 5th and later, and for that matter wouldn't that reraise against an ace on 3rd in the first place?

876 or similar fits semi-decently -- call 3rd for the low + straight potential against a possible pair of aces (and if it isn't a pair of aces, we aren't that far behind), shovel money in on 4th because seat 1 is a drooling moron and even if we're in second place, it's at their expense, plus it looks like we have the only low, 5th we picked up a straight draw (but I still wouldn't have bet 5th), 6th we bricked, 7th we probably bricked too or made our random 876xA low.

Re: Stud8 Bet on 7th?

I just don't think super-thin one way value bets on the river account for all that much of your overall EV. This one is similar to the OP and my comments would be the same.

They don't. But not making them is throwing money away.

Re: Stud8 Bet on 7th?

I think its obv that seat 3 is never folding river. And had I known that seat 1 was that big of a fish I may have requested time a bet 7th. But this was a very close one.

Re: Stud8 Bet on 7th?

Yeah, as I said, it's very likely S3 caught case A (what else is he playing this aggressive? a 4-low??) and everyone's two pair outs are dead.

Re: Stud8 Bet on 7th?

It's apparent from the later action that the excellent player is not rolled, but when I raise with an Ace in the door and an excellent player calls with an Eight in the door, it does give me pause, especially when so many hearts are gone. With the information that we have on fourth, I'm not necessarily liking my hand enough to jam with it. Now given that (A3)8 is in this guy's range, it would appear that this was played correctly. I'm not putting myself forth as a great stud/8 player, but I don't play (A3)8 in his spot when I think I'm playing well.
