Stud+ @ New REVEL POKER ROOM in AC

I've recently visited the new Revel Poker room in AC. The tables, seats, and overall atmosphere was quite nice. Only problem being that they only had limit and NL Hold'em games going.

However, they said they would be happy to spread any game where there was an interest, including stud, stud8, and O8.

My personal preference would be stud8 around the $10/$20 level, +/-. I'd also be willing to play OE if that's where the greater preference would be.

Please respond if you are interested in meeting there Saturday, 8/18. I'm talking about starting something on a regular basis if possible.

Thoughts?

Yeah, Revel poker is struggling. Maybe 5-7 tables going on a Saturday.
It would have to be a perfect storm; a group of players all show up at the same time, etc.

Borgata is a logical place if there's not a tournament going on. They won't have enough tables/dealers. If you could get at least 4-5 people to start shorthanded, I could see it going. 10/20 is a good limit, but you might get more random people with a 5/10 game. Just my .02...

Another stumbling block could be that the regs who liked playing stud 8 are now playing elsewhere. Harrah's has been getting 10/20 OE, and Parx has 6/12 OE. Lots of former Taj & Borgata 2-way regs in those games.

Essentially live poker at 10x is about the same toughness as online poker at 1x

gonna go out on a limb and say you haven't played much live poker?

I mean 2/5 live is comparable to 25nl and 50nl

There's usually at least 3-4 fish on a given 2/5 table, and that's on a bad day. You almost never see that online at any level.

If you're an online winner, you should choose a live limit based on how much you're willing to put on the table, not your perceived skill level relative to your opponents. There are bad players at every level, and the "good" players for the most part won't put you to difficult decisions. This doesn't really start to change when you get to levels where pros can make a decent living like 5-10 NL or 30-60 limit.

i deal poker professionally full time so i know how lolbad most live players are, i just get the impression that so many good online micro/low stakes players must feel out of their depth money wise when playing live, yet they choose to continue

It was a problem literally the first time I played live, and never since then.
