This hand was played at a relatively soft 8-game table, villain who brought in was not notably loose/aggressive.

Limits: 0.20/0.40, ante 0.04
6 players pay ante, pot is 0.24

Villain brings in for 0.08 with a 3
4, 8, Q, 6 all fold.

Hero has 6 up, QT down.

Is this a hand that is fine to attempt to steal with? We're risking 0.20 to win 0.32 if he folds pre.

Also, how close is this between raise/fold in this spot? It seems like we have a pretty bad hand with a dead queen and a useless 6, but with antes we can steal wider.

Also, weird question, but would we open this if we were playing Razz instead?

When I have dead cards and the bring in has a live card I tend to just let them walk. But if I feel the need to steal I put the brakes on if he calls. If he catches bad on the turn ill bet again, but if called again I will stop semi bluffing on 5th unless I catch good. Razz same thing. You have to keep in mind that the forced bring in will put you on the widest range possible here.

close one , i let a lot of these go and dont mind just calling here. that can be a good play.
i dont know why no one ever suggests that.

Why you want to call here, with a trash hand? Or do you mean calling could be a good play if you had different cards?

I'm absolutely giving a walk. Your hand is awful and the bringin isn't exactly dead in E like other stud games

why fold here. your hand is like his on board and you are getting 4 to one on the next card for something good to happen and it is less than that.

You didn't say if your 6 upcard was the last one card acting or the last one LOW card acting. That means something, imo. Even at lower limits.

If you acted last your stealing attempt must rely upon the probability villain hasn't a 3 low card starting hand or something decent/good and you are favored he doesn't.

At razz and for the fact that bring in has a sure worse exposed card than yours, things are very different. Mainly because there are some positional issues involved whenever on 4th street some undepicted cards will fall on either side.
