Hello Friends

Playing this afternoon and this hand came about.

Not sure if it's the right move or not. I know that I made it feeling that all of my 10s and Aces were live, furthermore, no real flush concerns for opponents and lastly, trying to delve into playing some high hands knowing that low hands miss. But again, not sure.

.25/.50 Stud 8 on Bovada

V1 - xx3
V2 - xxJ
V3 - xxK
HERO - Q J K
V4 - xx4
V5 - xxQ
V6 - xx4

Action:

V1 brings in.
V2 Folds.
V3 calls bring in.
HERO completes.

Thoughts?

Not sure how much money is in the antes but normally with your pair outs dead, another high hand already in the pot, no suit and three low cards yet to act this is a fold.

Unsuited high airbags are a stealing hand, and you don't have a steal opportunity here.

a K, Q, and J are out and one has already entered the pot. This is a clear fold

yeah.

i did it. played the hand & scooped and felt good. then wrote down the hand number to post to make sure it was the right play. then when i wrote it all out manually and thought "what the hell was i thinking?"

what is the more important reason for folding here - the fact that another high has already entered? the fact that one of each of my cards has folded (or entered)? or the fact that multiple lows have yet to act?

for instance. lets say that the Queen folded to me, leaving me as the only high w/ multiple lows yet to act. is a complete there as the clear "high only" hand that bad a move?

Having the best high hand HU is great, no matter how weak it is, because you win the whole pot on Fifth a bunch, or your opponent makes a payoff hand and you scoop a big one and you can control the action to a great degree. If you don't think you're going to be HU -- several low cards yet to act for example, or a low and an Ace -- you're not giving up anything by pitching unpaired high hands or weak pairs without additional backdoor potential.

I would only get involved here if I had a reasonable expectation of stealing or being HU at worst.
