No history with Villain. Given dead cards it seems unlikely that he has a very strong high hand, but why would he then raise my low board without at least two pair? Any advice on how to proceed?

Fold unless villain is a maniac.

unless he is trying to get a free card fold. might be player dependent but rarely will you have the best hand unless he is a very good player and then his hand will be say a pair and draw.

Thanks for the replies guys. I suppose given how strong my board is for the low, his high hand must be super strong in order to believe my free roll equity isn't large enough.

I guess if we take one off here, then we're committed to calling again on 6th if we catch good, say any two pair, any non-pairing low card, or any club, when we could still be monstrously behind.

any thinking player would have the straight here as he is facing a reraise. so he obviously doesnt care about that, so two pair is out and maybe trips.

so unless he is creative and can read you or think you may not have a made low you can fold even though you have redraws to a flush and a low.

this spot is prime to realize that poker is about reading your opponent.
