I'm fairly new to razz and came up with this question about counting dead (duplicate) cards.

Say, we have 74A and the showings are 74T92A5. There are three dead cards (7, 4 and A), but it seems like the authors were counting only 7 and 4, and not an ace. Is this true? And if so, why?
