Sick Spot in Stud8 hand

Live game, Villain is very good, loose and aggro, he hand reads exceptionally well, we have some history this session, I had KQ3/ 4QK8 vs 747/ 8T4K and scooped him.

8 handed - I open kings with 3 people and the bring in behind

3rd St.
Kh 8s/ Kc completes
xx/ 4 calls
xx/ Jh calls
xx/2 folds

4th St.
Kh 8s/ Kc Qd - Bet, Call
xx/ Jh Td - Raise
xx/ 4K - Folds

5th St.
Kh 8s/ Kc Qd 2c - Check, Raise
xx/ Jh Td 4s - Bet, Call

6th St.
Kh 8s/ Kc Qd 2c Th - Bet
xx/ Jh Td 4s Kd - Call

7th
Kh 8s/ Kc Qd 2c Th /3h - Bet
xx/ Jh Td 4s Kd / x - Raise

What do you do, what do you think his range is?

Re: Sick Spot in Stud8 hand

Before I could ponder your question, I would love to know what your thought was on 5th.

If you thought he was betting on an OESD on 4th and was very aggressive I can see why you might try to get a bet in on 5th the way you did (although a really high variance play). Anyway, if that is what the undercurrent of this hand it, it is pretty hard to fold 7th, because you could see him trying a SIWAS there. It is pretty thin though because sometimes he is going to have kings up (or another random 2 pair) anyway.

I think is range is better than Kings

[ ] sick spot

Do you really think one pair is calling the river when you c/r 5th?

Re: Sick Spot in Stud8 hand

His hand can be jacks a lot on 5th because a king is dead and my hold card range when I open in that spot is like 55+ or LL suited.

The only hands I lose to realistically are 2pair or 3 of a kind.

Re: Sick Spot in Stud8 hand

if it's not for value, then it's a bluff. so why is there even a question on 7th?

Re: Sick Spot in Stud8 hand

Dumb river bet. You say he's decent, so your c/r on Five makes your hand KK+ to him, so c/c river if you think he'll bluff even rarely, c/f if not.

As played I don't know. Probably call and lose every time or fold and be prepared to call in another dumb spot later. You're holding so many cards that fit his hand it's hard to see how he thinks he can get you off anything so his raise is virtually always for value.

[edit] just read the two posts above, so yeah what, three-ball SIWAS? Haven't seen that work but you're the one in the game so maybe you know something.

Re: Sick Spot in Stud8 hand

is this one of those hands where you are villain in the hand and want to know if your river raise would work with air? it feels like one of those hands...

Huh? If you think villain is value raising a pair on the river after this action, he isn't very good at all, and he couldn't read a stop sign.
