So my wife and I are both from South Dakota and I've been in the DC area for 9 years; she 4 years, and we've always been looking to get back to the Midwest eventually. After I won my bracelet, she left her sales job to become a nurse, and had to take a year of prerequisite science classes before applying to some accelerated nursing programs. She got into everywhere she applied, and Creighton was her #1 choice, but they do this rolling admissions thing, so she was initially accepted into the January start and put on the waitlist for the fall start. She was eventually pulled into the fall class w/ 2-3 weeks to go, so we are relatively abruptly, though not unexpectedly, moving to Omaha. I grew up about 75 minutes from there.
I had a big slug of restricted stock vest from my job on August 1st, so perfect timing to use as a down payment on a house in Omaha as I damn sure wasn't buying one in the DC area. You can get 5 bedrooms and a pool in Omaha for what it would have been to buy the 1 bedroom shoebox condo we rented in Arlington.
