looks like seat 8 made a lock low or a bigger full on the river. you were laying two to one that he didnt make a bigger full by jamming. right or wrong based on your read. you were there.

Why isn't there a sticky on Stud/Stud8/Razz games like there is in the hold'em, and 0/8 games? Is Stud a secret society or something?

We have one of these, it just isn't a sticky. I'll find it and sticky it.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you too Lucious for your posts. Have you thought about moving up in stake and playing live? I mean, you seem to know what you are doing. Most stud players seem god-awful, especially in S8 where they chase a low that's already beaten, essentially drawing dead, and a two-pair into a straight for half the pot, etc.

I love chasing lows, and my favorite is calling aces up vs 4567 showing.

You rang?

Seriously though. Back after a 7 year absence and no online stud to be had for US players except on ACR where hardly any tables run, no mixed games, and no stud/mixed MTTs.

Back to picking on the retirees at Foxwoods

anyone here that would like to see the stud hi tournament remain in the scoop schedule make your point in this thread:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/61...017-a-1654620/

it seems after a couple suggestions the stars rep decided to replace it with nl5cd from all games and his post is buried and probably some of you haven't seen it

the final schedule is not posted yet

Re: *Official* December LC thread of Stud Forum***

ultimately it is best to keep most or all the traditional poker games alive and well. specialize things too much and then you begin the process of weeding out those that dont fit in to just a few games or basically just the one.
poker is a long term game and changes can hurt its viability if they arent made for the long term good.

I've been overlooking hands in a game that was too big for me, never happened before in my life. On reflection not enough oxygen was going to my brain. I don't know if breathing has anything to do with the other posters, but I'd examine it.

most can tell when its a day your mind is not attuned to poker. so dont play and go home or go home broke.
you have to look at it as a job. and if you cannot do the job properly today you dont do it.

What I use to do is if I suspected I was tired would be to take a break, and play PhotoHunt, and see how well I do. If I do okay, then I am reasonably well enough to continue. Discipline!

It was the combination of being somewhat new to Omaha, and playing somewhat too high, though I had my reasons of course. I find Omaha and Stud take way more brain power than hold'em does, especially Stud, so I tire much faster than Hold'em. I probably can only play about 8 hours of HOE without serious drop-off of cognitive abilities.

This. They are great to play in these situations when people are tired. Plus, for some reason that I don't understand, even guys who are A players at a full table can have trouble adapting when a good game has played down to short.

mack is spot on about the shorter handed game. in live stud, players play really poorly from full games to shorter handed.

Hold'em players think the pot is actually bigger than it really is in Stud games. My problem is Omaha8 where I heroically go for high ignoring the fact that the pot is going to be split, had this hand with reverse implied odds written all over it from the big blind, and it's only one bet, and ****, I'm chasing for high. Time to step away for a while.

Had another mind-screw today. I think they'll go away with more experience. I've been playing a lot. On a down day like this I elect work on my computer instead.

Re: *Official* December LC thread of Stud Forum***

Guess this is the place to put this, in case anybody's watching:

Stud8 round of Talking Stick's 8-16 0E. Here's what 6th looked like:

Me: (3-2)8-7-6-9
V1: (??)8-7-6-Q
V2: (??)2-10-3-J

I got myself into this mess bec my steal attempt didn't work. I figured that my bad low might be better than the other player's bad low plus w/ the straight draw so I bet, both call.

I catch a K going down, 7th gets checked through, I table tick.....tick.....tick.....and I hear 'That's going to take it all.'

Re: *Official* December LC thread of Stud Forum***

thats why betting is so important as sometimes you get to win it like that or have someone throw away some king of great hand thinking he is being smart.
good move. howard.
but give some thought as to whether you should also have bet the river please.

Re: *Official* December LC thread of Stud Forum***

it looks like you have the best low and both are likely going for low or some kind of draw. and since they didnt bet at you on the river then they didnt make anything. and your strong board scares them as well.
so likely you would run off any ace or one pair hands from calling. which is likely one of them had an ace or caught a pair on the river.
really the probable only way you wernt going to win at least half is if one made a better low and had an ace.
