n00b stud question

is there any reason ever to bet instead of bring in in stud or stud8?
i know in razz u never do it except for hu.
if noone never does it why is it even an option in stars? (duh)

This gets asked a lot. The answer is almost always that you should bring in regularly. It's an option on stars because it's an option in live poker, and it's an option in live poker because people do it, whether they should or not.

Bringing in full in really live Stud Hi games makes sense sometimes.

I can't remember the last time I didn't just bring-in without looking at my cards but sometimes think there might be a justification for open completing just for meta-game. A lot of regulars have some funny reactions to them.

It's like limp/reraising in NL Holdem. It feels incredible stupid doing it but at the same time it seems to make sense in a few situations.
