So against my better judgement, I called. Chalk it up to jackpot possibility, being at the table for too long, not being convinced that seat 4 had more than the three queens, and just dumb temptation. All the logic said fold, but sometimes logic gets tossed out the window. Couldn't help myself.
And then the K
drops and I have the Royal Flush. Seat 1 bricks, and Seat 4 catches nothing of interest. And as sort of suggested here, when the trip queens bet, I just call, hoping like hell that Seat 1 sticks around and catches the SF on the river. He calls.
Then the trip queens checks the river, and I bet. Both villains fold
.
This thread was not intended to portray myself as some kind of "superstar". Just what the title said - a fun hand, where it can be argued that I butchered in all kinds of ways, and just got lucky. But I won't forget it for a while. It does make me wonder though, if I could have got Seat 4 to fold if I had missed, and still bet the river. It would have been such an outrageous bet staring at those three queens, that I must have a full house beat, right? Or three queens for sure.
I left out that Seat 4 has one serious weakness, which is that he makes heroic folds on the river. But even with that, I was still surprised to see him toss that hand, and I doubt that I would have been superstar enough to bet into him if I had whiffed.
