Also is anyone here going to Prague? They have a lot for Stud games this time. They have: Stud High, Stud8, PL Razz events, as well as a Quadruple Stud, an 8-game and a HORSE event.

20-40 live stud hi game at Commerce. Start with a flush draw. Hit open sixes on fifth vs open sevens. Villain hits open fives and sevens on sixth and I catch a king to go with one in the hole, so I have kings up. He bets and I call. He checks the river, so I bet thinking my kings-up are good. He takes forever and folds. He flashed one of his hole cards to the seat beside him. He had a full house. Go figure. Guess he never saw it.

outstanding post in NVG from Oscillator. This needs to be shared with Stud forum since it would be otherwise buried.

Nice. I remember limit holdem got like this when it started to thin out really bad online too - just super aggressive thin value allllll the time.

+1 thanks for the linky. Wisdom is typically wasted on NVG, but stud related wisdom in particular. Downswings are always worse/bigger against guys who will not fold.

I suspect there are formats where strategies never stabilize, except at the local level. I'm not sure that online limit stud existed long enough for us to know if it would continually cycle through LA - TA - TP - LP strategies. Too me, it's a dead cause.

As a longtime live player, I can say that these strategic cycles occur over the years, but mathematically I provide too small a sample size to have any significance. Also, these strategic changes can be triggered by things like rake adjustments, so it's difficult to know if strategies are inherently unstable or at least non-transitive.

This would be a good place for a rant/troll about the political stupidity of destroying online poker, but I'll let it pass.

Will def be looking forward to this. I did have a couple questions:

1) what is the best in-game software for the games you are playing? (I can understand if you don't want to answer)

2) what is the best study software for the 3 stud games?

3) I'm not really up to speed on all the PS changes, but if they eliminate rb for limit games above 10/20, will 20/40 8game become a ghost town? Will 40/80 8game actually run more often in your opinion? How do you think the Stars VIP changes will effect the mix games, in general?

4) Is hu razz the most boring game? ever?

^ Good questions.
What happened with this? Assuming he went on it, is there a youtube replay of it somewhere?

Nvm, found it on twitch:

Yeah, I haven't managed to muster up that kind of time/energy yet to tackle the full thing. Any particularly pertinent times or points/sections of it to watch?

Talking Stick (Scottsdale) has bumped the 6-12 OE to 8-16!

Don't much care for the doubling of the stud ante since there's almost zero chance of grabbing them and the bring-in but who cares! I have found a new home!

What is the stud ante? Rake?

Doubled from $1 to $2 w/ a $2 bring-in. Full rake is $4 + $2 BBJ when pot reaches $30, half-kill to $12-24 triggered by a $120 scoop. The action in this game is sometimes just silly and if I still had my smart phone I'd take some pics of the pots. Not all, but enough to make me move full time from the 8-16 LHE (I only get to play 15 hrs/wk fwiw). I'm going to load more music onto my iPod and just relax. There's nothing anybody can do but show them a hand for which you get paid huge esp the stud rounds. Even the 08 rounds are good as in 6 players for 2-3 bets pre and having 2 Aces on the flop! One player (considered to be solid in 08) limped UTG w/ J-10-10-9! Go ahead, ask if they were suited!

All I need is patience and patience I've got.

I was going to 'tsk tsk' the take, but with those pots it's probably irrelevant.
The ante may be as well. I would like total antes to equal $16, but I doubt they are needed for the action.

I really don't care about the rake and the antes. I'll be playing less hands than the rest but, if the game plays big like it did tonight which I think was the first day of the larger stakes, I don't think anybody would care either. The 08 blinds are standard. So I'll just play tight. My biggest concern is sustainability. There is a decently large core of regs for that particular game, the ones that don't want to play the 20-40 version, and tonight there were two games. One problem is that the only other day that I can play is a Tuesday and there might not be a game that lasts enough hours and I always get messed up if I move from 08 to LHE: for example I'll see A-2 and think 'GREAT!' and it takes a half hour to adjust, lol. There were many 2+ rack pots, simply wonderful. I've opened my starting hand requirements a bit bec they just don't punish me for it and I can avoid getting myself into gross spots.

And, in case anyone is wondering why I don't play the 20 it's bec having to take care of mom limits my hours and, I will admit it, I don't want to lose 2K in a session and not be able to play for 3 days.

Sorry, I forgot the forum style: Soooted! And this from the guy who has more sense than most at least in the 08 rounds. He considers himself good at 08, tried the 20 apparently thinking that that would make up for being weak at Stud8 and must've gotten crushed so he moved back down. And he IS an overall winner, I'll give him that.
