I'm not sure if its mandatory to come guns blazing with this kinda of 3 card flush in hi/lo

I was watching a mixed game specialist play and he folded a similar 3 card flush (middling cards such as 89Ts) so thats why i kind of slowplayed in the beginning but this allowed seat 3 to improve without any pressure. I guess thats why i really messed up this hand.

idk.. 5th street onward was a complete disaster.

i think i was going for a x/r (but then they didnt bet)

and then was hoping to bloat the pot on 6th street and go in for another x/r on 7th

yah..idk why he didnt bet that was odd

Is it possible to overplay a hand when you put in one aggressive action?

I would've capped every street with your hand until the river.

Maybe overplay is the wrong word. I meant did I over-analyze/underestimate my hand? But in regards to your post, maybe I should have been more aggressive. I guess I was thinking with my middling cards it wouldn't be nearly as good of a hand for Hi/Lo (I would have capped every street if it were Stud Hi)

I guess seeing a specialist fold a similar hand in stud8 got me thinking about how I should play 8s and 9s in split pot games. Maybe I interpreted his actions the wrong way. But I was thinking; If I do not make the flush my ace is going to be in bad shape for any sort of lo hand.

Massively and horribly underplayed. You have a 100% live flush with an A in it on 3d and a gang of call alongs who will pay you massively to find a flush. I would get as much money in as possible on every street here and only reassess if I got re-raised on the river.

I withdraw my tilt as I wouldn't max third in stud/8.

Please explain your 6th street thought process.

I did. In post 4:

"and then was hoping to bloat the pot on 6th street and go in for another x/r on 7th"

Didn't want to chase away the irrelevant player just yet with a x/r. Not sure if he would have called. I already forgot the seating order but it was something along those lines.

You just called 6th street, how did you try to bloat it?

Stud is not that tricky. Things change constantly and you should just be trying to get value out of your hand. You have an incredibly scary board on 5th, check/raising isn't going to work that often. On 6th you have an opportunity to 3bet and get huge value, don't pass up on it.

Agree with other posters. It's not a hand you want to put a load of bets in early, but as soon as you get the flush draw on 4th you can start putting raises in and just bet your hand and play it as fast as possible.

There are situations where you can expect someone to bet and raise, typically when someone has made it very clear they have the only low or the best low, or they have a lock high hand. When you are to the right of that player with several players to act and you have a big hand that is not at much risk at all then it's a great situation to check raise.

When the hands aren't clearly defined though you should generally just bet your hand and play it as straightforward as possible and this hand would be one such hand. People love to take free cards in stud 8 rather than try to bluff, so don't let them.
