Crazy Razz hand - Where are the bricks? Crazy Razz hand - Where are the bricks?

I've never been in a hand like this before and I probably played it terribly, but check out all the babies! Not a single bit of paint out there.

Sigh/fold 5th?

Yeah, it's a big pot, but I fold to the first bet on 5th street, you're probably drawing only to runner runner if the other players have any sense. Maybe at this level they don't, but certainly when Seat 4 calls the bet he has a better draw than you.

I think you played this hand wrong on every street:
3rd: While you have 234, the board cards are very very unkind to you - an ace, two sixes, a seven, and an eight. Your hand is very dead.
4th: You paired and everyone caught good. While I understand that often you want to bet when you pair to avoid showing weakness and stuff, you're just not getting any folds - now OR later, really!
5th: you have a pair and a 9-draw against a 3 card eight, a 3 card seven, and a two card seven. Not only that, but again (and this is why 3rd is bad) your hand is extremely dead.
6th: seat 1 almost always has an 8-low. Look how dead the cards he caught on board are
7th: Okay I stand corrected you played this street perfectly :-)

I am new to Razz so not surprised at all that I misplayed it. Here's my thoughts:

3rd street: I 100% agree.
4th street: I wasn't expecting folds, but I'm expecting a bet to go in regardless and I don't think I'll get raised very often, so I'd rather disguise my hand by playing it this way. I can't fold here, can I?
5th street: I really felt like calling would be bad, but talked myself into a bad peel hoping maybe someone was paired and/or had bricks underneath
6th street: My best possible catch but obviously still drawing thin. I knew I was behind but for the same reasons as 4th street, I bet.
7th street: At least I got this right

Anyways, that's just my thinking. Thanks for the input.

By the way, can anyone good at math tell me what the odds of drawing 31 cards and not one of them being a J, Q, or K are?

Is his hand really any more dead than everyone else's? I don't see how he can fold 3rd street here just because of that.

I assumed he meant to just call and not 3-bet...surely I have to at least call?

Ummm... All the dead cards are dead for everyone else. You should put in maximum action on third.

Even giving four players two more aces and one more 6. We have 28 %. Not putting in max action is like burning money.

I think I figured it out now. It's around 1 in 702,000, so it's not obscenely unlikely.

you bricked on the turn and bet, not a great idea, especially with all the low cards dead. Crazy hand though

I won't bet 4th, and calling 2 bets on 5th is really bad.

Yeah, I'd have trouble folding 3rd with only one dead ace and no dead 5s. All the same, I think that OP could learn a lot by plugging this hand into propokertools and playing with down cards. For example, he could give the 2h a 6 and an A down and see how it affects EQ.

or he could do this new-fangled thing called putting his opponents on a "range"
