I was watching a video where the author calls a raise from a 7 into his 9 and the bringin in an online high stakes game. Is this standard play?

What was situation? Full ring or at least 6 handed, folded to 7 and it's just villain, hero and bring in? I would not call, I would reraise.

It was 4-handed, folded to 7. He said he considered whether to call or reraise.

Re-raise. FWIW, in the video the author realizes after he calls that he should've re-raised.

Side note : the shorter handed a stud game is, the tighter you can play which is a simple concept a lot of people do not understand. If folded to you in late position in a full ring game you should open up your range a lot given the extra 5-6 antes.

i dont think it matters between calling and re-raising. it prolly is highly villain dependent (both the stealer and the bring-in)

Question is are you gonna be able to not lose the tiny fraction of 1 SB that you're gaining now on later streets from getting in all these tricky spots with split 99.

I mean yeah you get some value when they have air on 3rd but I think it's hard to play the hand profitably beyond 3rd or 4th unless you are an expert, who even then will struggle.

And for balance are you 2 betting with a 9 up 3 flush in this spot?

Very helpful post. I typically play hold'em. This should be a 'no duh', but it isn't.

For this to be true, don't you have to assume that you're opponents are not also adjusting? With the bigger antes they should also be defending more often in full games and folding their bringing more in short games, countering your strategy.
