I'm just a lo stakes player, but I can't see how it would be worth continuing with just some arbitrary 3-flush on fourth. I'd think the circumstances where you might continue would include having a live pair, having two or more live overcards to your opponent's likely pair, there being for some reason an enormous pot that makes folding absurd for one bet, it being likely that you will get free cards later if you call now, having a board you might be able to represent something with later (like 89 say) if you catch well, being in a spot where villain often won't have anything either, or being in a pot with an exceedingly bad player who will pay you off extremely well if you make some kind of hand. And you'd probably want more than one of the last few conditions to be true to bother continuing.
