So, I guess after the Stud/8 mega satellite, it was time to play the $10k Stud/8ament.

One of ceegee's roommates drove us to the airport to pick up a rental car; we got a "compact" car but they gave us an Hyundai Elantra anyway. Now, Hyundai's website alleges that the Elantra is actually a compact car, but, it was super awesome. It had both XM radio and keyless entry, which was way more than I was expecting from a $19/day car rental...

Last year's $10k got like 170 entrants, and ceegee thought the o/u was gonna be something ridic, I dunno, I won't harp on that. i told him that was way too high and he lowered it to 200. I snap called under for $10. There were like 130 in at first break, so he was classy and paid me early. I enjoyed making fun of him more than the $10, I think.

So my first table was a gold mine. There were two russians, some Italian guy who was super aggro and not dario mineri, the guy who plays in the 50/1 game that has the tremor, an unknown german/(swiss?) guy, Mike Sexton, and someone else. Someone else was replaced much later with Mike Matusow, but may have been a 3rd russian guy.

The day started off pretty slow; I got down to like $20k I think. A bunch of chips were getting passed back and forth, and after break, I finally started to win a few pots. There was this massive pot that was 4-5 handed on 3rd street, and then jammed on 4th w/ a russian w/ a TK, two lows, and me with Q7Q7. Low bets, TK calls, I raise, low calls, other low 3 bets, TK 4bets (wtf?) and I don't fold. I then spike a queen on 5th obviously and lead into like 347 or something, he raises, and TKx goes bonkers and folds three kings. With two other russians at the table, he is bitching in russian for what seems like hours. I'm very impressed w/ the fold and was probably one of the best folds I'd seen as I guess he had 7 outs to fill for half and was going to get jammed on 5th and 6th if he stayed in... pretty ridic, though I'm sure he had pretty good implied odds should he have filled...

There was another ridic hand where I had an 8 and a three flush on 3rd, I complete, an ace raises, and sexton 3bets xx9, where xx can't be anything else but 99 I guess. Another low comes along, and I just flat. Both lows catch a low card on 4th, and ace confirms he has aces, while mike reconfirms he has rolled nines for anyone remotely aware of the hand. even PokerNews could have figured it out. on 5th, Mike has 999xy, the ace has AxAQQ, I pair, and the german/swiss guy has a 3 low board with a seven, but doesn't raise when QQ leads and sexton raises, and I know he can't be tricky, so I know he's not complete yet, and I think my 8 was in the hole, so I call anyway. AxAQQ now re-raises, revealing that x = Q, and MIKE SEXTON 4-BETS in one of the worst plays of the tournament... We both call and AQAQQ caps it. I brick 6th, which goes bet/call/call/call, and both of us brick our low on the river, so AQAQQ drags a monster pot. I had made two pair on 6th actually and would have instamucked a full house had I made one on the river. At least my read was right.

Matusow comes and is complaining about how bad he runs and also losing to a fish at Aria triple draw who was opening utg and drawing 3 and whatever else for most of the rest of the night. One hand, he opened an ace with an a dead w/ 3 BB left or something and I declined to play with KxK. I won a couple nice pots to be up to like $60k from the starting stack, and then matusow wins like 2-3 almost in a row off me, and then stars kinda talking ****, but whatever... So I finish the day w/ $47k, so a little disappointing...

One funny thing I forgot until just now was when german/swiss guy misclicked, meant to throw out a call w/ a low draw on 5th vs. trip 4s, floor rules a raise, and 444 obviously 3bets, guy calls down and doesn't make the low, lol.

When I first joined the stud forum I think you and Spazzpro (and possibly someone else) were having what seemed like constant dick waving contests and your avatar stood out in my mind was I always associated it with that on-going situation.

Anyway, 100% nothing personal as I've never met you me but hopefully I will next year at the WSOP when I plan to make a trip across the pond.
