Some thoughts on why I played the hand this way. It was very situation dependent.
1. Even though seat 2 plays 80% of his hands, once he is in an extended downturn (as he was at that point), he is capable of tossing hands in some circumstances in sheer frustration when raised. I wanted him in the hand. Thought he might fold.
2. I was very card dead leading up to that hand. The odd raise I was making, was killing action almost every time. So I felt I needed to trap in this case, and try to win a larger pot. If I had been active leading up to this hand, and had lost a few hands, I would have raised earlier.
3. I think that very few players are raising open trip kings in that spot, even with the other hands you mention. Unless they have the quads. No matter how bad the villain is. Raising me back just looks like throwing away money in my view.
