You are correct - you just need to be there. But I don't really like slots or table games - poker is the reason I show up at ML. So standing around for hours, hoping for a seat at a poker table that probably won't happen, isn't appealing to me.
I'm not even complaining that much. It was crowded so I decided not to go - no big deal. It just seems weird. On one hand, any promotion that fills the room at 10:00pm on a Sunday is good for the casino and players. On the other hand, any promotion that gets 80 more people there than can find a seat at a poker table isn't good ... unless those 80 all go play slots/table games, and then it is good for the casino. Also, compared to other promotions, does this promotion encourage players to play more hours during the week? I think that is very difficult to know, since there are many factors that go into whether someone plays or not.
I guess I'm just realizing there are a lot of factors that go into these decisions on which promotions to run each month. Giving away a Mercedes is a GREAT promotion for those that can be in the casino on a Sunday night, but not so much for others.
