Can someone please recommend a reasonable hotel close to Maryland Live?

Larry,

I would recommend Aloft or the Element. They're both close by, clean (from what I hear) and the most reasonable around here. If you're looking for high end, The Hotel is close by. I believe all three have a shuttle to and from the casino.

Thanks

Mike

Never thought I'd be suggesting this but, Red Roof Inn was very close, nice and new, reasonable.

Thank you guys.Maryland Live doesn't have a partnership with any local hotels where they can get you a poker rate on a room?

Mike, the new felts are giving me hallucinations. After staring at the Mercedes pic for hours on end, it assumes a 3D shape. Today, a fish was sitting in the 1 seat and I was snap calling his bets because his chips would land on the mercedes and I was worried the car would drive off with the chips before the dealer pulls them into the pot.

Please bring back the basic red felt as soon as the promo is over.

I couldn't agree more, well I lied, I can agree slightly less as the mercedes hasn't driven away on me just yet, but the felt is awful! My unscientific poll of all the dealers seems to agree as well.

Lost a Quad J's Queen kicker to Quad J's Ace kicker with another 7 minutes remaining.

Today was the day for Quads (2) and Straight flushes (1). Turned a 10 high str8 flush, but, the board had K high Straight Flush, so didn't even make it on the board.

I even bribed Mike for a bottle of Beer if it holds. I guess Mike has to wait as well.

Oh well! Next hand!!!

was there an unusual wait last sunday, with the car and cash drawings taking place or was it fairly normal?

I was watching on Bravo, although I didn't go to the casino since I was watching the Ravens game and then the Orioles game that was on right after that. Around 3:00pm it looked normal, around 30 tables. Maybe around 5:00 or 6:00 it was up to 40 tables. At 8:00 it was at 50 tables.

I thought of heading over there after the O's game finished, but decided not too. I checked Bravo around 9:00 and there were like 80 people on the 1/2 list, and several other lists were very long also, so I guess the place was packed.

Confirmed packed last Sunday night, yet the $330 MTT earlier that day had an overlay.

I stayed at Holiday Inn in Jessup, MD ($109 weekday, 99 weekend$ and liked it a lot. Very clean, very professional and helpful desk staff, comfy mattress, nice quality towels, free wifi, tons of Tv stations, bar and restaurant, liquor store across the street, Just a few miles from casino and Timbuktu Restaurant where I heartily recommend the crab cakes. Didn't look into shuttle service. Maybe you can get a better rate if you are a member of the HI frequent guest club.

Please tell me that bravo is glitching, or is the wait list really that long.

You would think they're giving away free money. Or maybe even an expensive car.

Anyone been in on one of the last Monday holidays? Wondering how the crowds were or when it started getting crowded - if it did.

Mid afternoon, during the Ravens game (1:00 kickoff), there were 30 table active. I thought of heading over after watching the Ravens game, but I had a few things to do and couldn't leave until just before 6:00pm. I checked Bravo and there were 50 tables in use, with 40 names on the 1/2 list, 20 on the 2/5 and 10 on the 4/8 list. By 7:00, there were 80+ on the 1/2 list. With the 10:00pm car give-away, I didn't bother to go to ML since I'd never get on a table. I didn't have many hours this week anyway.

What a weird promotion. On one hand, it is really cool that they are giving away a sweet car (or $38,000 cash) to one lucky player. On the other hand, to win you have to be there at 10:00 on Sunday and they can't handle the amount of people who show up. I'll be at the Ravens game next Sunday, and wouldn't be able to get to ML until probably too late to get a seat. I'm not digging this promotion.

I don't think you need to be swiped in or seated to win, just present. There were dozens of people just milling around last night around the time of the drawing.

i was playing yesterday. around 6pm (80 person waitlist at 1/2) a guy walked by our and said to the dealer, "this list is way too long. i'm at the bottom." about 5 min later a player leaves our table at the same time this guy is walking by and the dealer says, "hey xxx, and nods at the open seat." wonder if it's my place to say something to Mike? i think we'd all be livid knowing there are still dealers playing favorites to some of the regulars.

I would be slightly livid knowing that 8 players sat there and did nothing.

It absolutely is your place to report that. It should never be happening.

Sure it shouldn't be happening, but then again seats need to be filled so that a 1/2 table isn't four handed for 30 minutes. True story bro.

You are correct - you just need to be there. But I don't really like slots or table games - poker is the reason I show up at ML. So standing around for hours, hoping for a seat at a poker table that probably won't happen, isn't appealing to me.

I'm not even complaining that much. It was crowded so I decided not to go - no big deal. It just seems weird. On one hand, any promotion that fills the room at 10:00pm on a Sunday is good for the casino and players. On the other hand, any promotion that gets 80 more people there than can find a seat at a poker table isn't good ... unless those 80 all go play slots/table games, and then it is good for the casino. Also, compared to other promotions, does this promotion encourage players to play more hours during the week? I think that is very difficult to know, since there are many factors that go into whether someone plays or not.

I guess I'm just realizing there are a lot of factors that go into these decisions on which promotions to run each month. Giving away a Mercedes is a GREAT promotion for those that can be in the casino on a Sunday night, but not so much for others.

I cannot access MD Live promo info from work (firewall block). Can anyone give a quick summary?
