Yeah you're usually good if you go on the weekend. Commerce actually has the same game and they get 2-3 tables some times. So you might want to look on Bravo and check. It's also not a big deal just to drop in to HG and if the game isn't good or the wait is long to just shoot over to commerce. They are about 15 minutes apart.

What is the benefit of having a player's card and getting scanned every hour? Nobody else at my table ever has one and/or ever wants it scanned. I don't know why I get mine scanned... At Ocean's Eleven, you can turn your hours into cash, but what are the benefits at Hawaiian Gardens?

Thanks!

None. The cards are scanned so that they can determine who isn't there, so the non-present people can be drawn as the winners of whatever drawing they are having.

It gets a reduced entry for one of their tournaments. That's the only thing they have now for scans as far as I know.

Not at Hawaiian Gardens. Right now, the only thing scans get you is reduced entry in their weekly players tournament, every Sat. at 11am.

You need 10 scans (10 hours of play) and you get $50 off your entry fee for their NL tournament.

They also use scans for a high hand drawing. I'm not sure on this, but I think it's if you get aces full or better, you get a scan for the drawing. The drawing is at 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, and 12am. The person drawn gets a cash prize. I think it starts at $500 and grows by $500 every time nobody claims the prize.

But that's it - HG promotions really suck compared to others in the area. The 100K JP is cool IF YOU HIT IT OR ARE AT THE TABLE WHERE IT HITS. Otherwise, who cares?

Crazy. When did they change to this format? I was just there playing 4/8 a few weeks ago and didn't have my card with me. I usually play at Commerce but wanted a change in scenery.

They also have the 5/5 hi only PLO. I believe it's either 500-1000 or 500 uncapped. I haven't played it in awhile so I forget. Neither game runs as often as it was running a couple of years ago which was everyday but they still get off the ground from time to time.
Wait what, so the 1/2 PLO is now gone? It's not a 2/3 mixed game?

I stop by every now and then and the 1/3 PLO mix (hi only and hi/low) seems to get an interest list most days and an actual game on weekends. Depending on who starts the game sometimes blinds are are adjusted, usually to prevent the game from being too nitty.

I mean is there a straight PLO game? I'm not looking to play mixed.

You say "max", but isn't it really a fixed buyin for all the games? I usually play limit, but I sat in the 3/5 once while waiting, and I'm pretty sure they told me I had to buy in for $300, period.

My friend tells me they'd stop giving free food and instead do a comp system based on how many hours you play. Is this true?

This is true, I was told NL300 gives $2/hr.

Yes.

8/16 Limit and all the games in the VIP section are $3/hr

300NL is $2/hr.

This just went in to effect on Monday.

Aloha!

For everyone who plays here a lot, is the poker room free from second hand smoke? Thank you for your guidance.

In California, no smoking is allowed in any enclosed place of employment. So the interior of HGC is free of smoke, second-hand or otherwise. But to enter or exit the building you have to walk through a gauntlet of building-entranceway smokers.

Actually, even in Indian casinos, "poker rooms" are non smoking. The only problem is that some of them aren't enclosed.

Just to let you know, they also remove the 100k jackpot, regular jackpot is 17k and some hours they double it to 30k, regular big jackpot 30k, it goes to 60k is some hours, Hawaiian Gardens is trying to let you know we do not care about you right now, they even told me, "Bike or Commerce can better serve you, we just do not care right now because we need all the money to fund our new building, we will care again when the new building is done". Food here has been raised 50% and some items 100%, some players eat food before they go to HG, rake is high, 100NL, $4/$8 LHE and below is not beatable, you are literally giving away money. If you ask for soda, it is 50 cents but you have to buy two because you have to tip for a dollar, soda has an aftertaste of tap water, HG sucks right now. Food servers are not happy because price increase also takes away some of their tips. Btw, i play at Pechanga now, it is 30 more minutes away but at least i feel welcome over there.

stay away from HAWAIIAN GARDENS for now, wait until the new building is done, maybe they will give back to the players when they realize they need the players back.

WE NEED TO STAND UP, THIS IS JUST WRONG!!!!
