Comps are pretty good - you get like $8 right when you are seated. Unfortunately, the food is incredibly mediocre.

Don't know if you can save up comps to eat at nice place. They put in a Nathan's hot dog place a short walk from the poker room that is really good, but other than that place and the food service in the poker room, I haven't eaten many places.

can't accumulate comps, you hand them your players card when you sit down and get $8.80 on it, 8 hours after they scan it you can get another comp

comp is good at any restaurant, grill in the poker room is terrible.

Mongolian grill (khan's fire) and the fish and chips place and both excellent imo, but about a ten minute walk (each way) from the poker room

I plan on asking in person this weekend. I assume the main issue would be how many of the dealers could run all of the games involved?
They had a mixed game running most of Monday.

LOL at what you assume the main issue would be.

Interesting. I've never seen a mixed game there either but I have not been up there since online was shut down.

I see that Monday was busy because of the splash pot. I'm wondering if things have changed a little recently (busier and more variety)?

I'll find out on Saturday.

I'd give their room a call, I've never heard that they comp rooms so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Just got home. I'm going to try to put in 40+hrs a week now. I'm an SupernovaElite Refugee.....and I'm not ready to fill out a resume. Table was incredibly soft, and I'm going to have to shift all opponents "levels" down a notch or two. $1k profit first tip!

I have been donking at winstar since 2004. From 2010, I have logged 413 hours there, with good results. 350 hours have been 2/5, 47 hours of 5/10, and 16 hours of PLO (wish this game made more often and was bigger). The action is almost always soft imo.

They do not comp rooms for poker players, but offer like a $10 discount with your players card.

If you are a SNE refugee, you will crush. Im sure you are aware that generally, live players that do not play online lack a solid foundation (limping and not playing postion well). I would estimate 9/10 players at winstar did not regularly play online pre black Friday.

Anyway just thought id give my donkey perspective for all wondering. Would love to see some new faces and beefen up the games.

Ill be there 2maro maybe i will see some of yall there

I played at the Winstar yesterday for the first time this year. The tables are soft and if you are a decent player from the online world you should do ok. The trick is to don't level yourself.

I'm another SNE refugee from Richardson that would be very interested if you kept us updated with your results. Some questions if you don't mind sharing with others as well:

1) What stake did you play?

2) How aggressive are you managing your bankroll given that most of it was probably locked online?

I may have to resort to this as soon as PS releases our funds.

Here's an ignorant and possibly silly question from an absolute beginner. Is there any connection between the entertainment at the casino and the action in the poker room? Can I improve my odds by going up when a band/comedian/whatever with dumb fans is playing?

Yes. If "gitt'err done" guy is up there or some other ******ed act the poker room is usually more busy than usual. And it is busier with people who seem to not be as good at the pokarz.

You get like an $8 food comp and that's it. It's also a use it or lose it, so no stacking. They will reload it every 8 hours.

Ha, ya black hoodie, I saw about 20 guys that could have been named Tom in a black hoodie. Although, I have been the only blue hat "D" guy I've seen. A little over 24 hours logged so far. $50/hr. I won't get to crank it up until next month, then I will put in 40hrs/week or more.

General observations of the 2/5 game. I haven't sat in a bad one yet. Even the ones that "know" what they are doing leave value all over the damn place. People play really straight forward. I have only seen one guy tripple barrel. If anyone puts in over $200 on a river, I'd say they have it 70% or more of the time.

I have run successful bluffs on the river a few times, but I have also looked up a few possible bluffs and they have had it every time. Most people can't hand read other than thinking someone has the nuts/nothing. I'm not sure there are more than 10 total long time winners in that game. I play better when I just put in my ear buds and play 2p2 poker. Position is way more important in this game then good starting cards. I still have a lot to learn before I think I'm dominating this game. As soon as my money comes in from PStars (if ever) I will play some 5/10nl, it seems to be all the same people.

I am going to start blogging about my live experiences about coming from an SNE grind off of Pokerstars and down shifting to live poker. I'll link to my blog here in the future when I get it going.

My name is Eric, I look like this, say hi if you see me.
