I've played cash $1-2 at Turning Stone a handful of times years ago. I really like the casino, but it never seemed to get a whole lot of action. Maybe because I was always playing on or really close to holidays, as I was upstate NY to see my brother and his family.

The first few times I was there we were in a poker room that was divided in half and it was a little weird but the atmosphere was nice. The latter times I played in a room that looked like it was a bingo hall and much smaller. I'm not sure why the change.

Anyways whats the action like at TS nowadays?

Depends when you go.

Weekends are decent. Weekdays it's all the old man coffee and farmer joes lol

But during the tourney series it's pretty good. So come August I would suggest
Making a trip there

The 50 minute levels last year were well received so we kept them in place for this event. Hope to see you here in August!!!
I keep meaning to come back to this-starting a tourney with 30k chips with a 25-50 level is a bit absurd, you really could get rid of that level in both the 570 and 1140. For the 570 I would just get rid of it, play levels 1-4 for 30 mins each, then play levels 5-16 for 40 mins each on day 1, still ending at 2k-4k. You'd end at the same time still. For the 1k, you could easily just get rid of the level and play only 16 levels day 1, or play 3 50 minute levels to end the night (and still save 10 minutes).

Hi Billy, we are definitely aware of all the good points you make in your post and we as a staff always go round and round about such changes. Then we always weigh the changes against the popularity of the event and the structures that are in place. There is more that goes into structure levels than simply deciding to leave it in or take it out. In addition to the technical aspect, we take into account staffing of our support departments ( cage, security, surveillance, EVS, F&B, Event Center ) as well as our own poker staff that is split to cover 2 venues ( the poker room and the Event Center ) which are in separate areas of the building. After all that, there is the matter of changing the structure of the tournament by petitioning the gaming commission ( required ) and then waiting for the approvals.
While it may seem absurd to have a particular level, there are many other guests who enjoy the event just the way it is and in the end that's whats most important. You may be correct that the level is not needed, levels have been removed in the past for the reasons you stated. Should the time come when the majority of guests are looking for changes to the level structure, we will be more than happy to adjust to accommodate! Thanks Billy, hope to see you in August!!!

Hey Frankie what time are the breaks ( every 2 hours?) and for how long are they for both events, 250k and 100k?

Putting in a leave request at work now for Friday on both the main 250k and 100k one, and want to know how to time it.

Thanks!

Yeah turning stone is not good action wise (not splashy) but it is very soft (no one is going to put you to tough decisions). Yeah weekends are good.

Frankie,

Is the main a 3 day event ending on Monday or is it guaranteed to play to a winner on Sunday?

Hi Carl, breaks occur after every 2 hrs of level play. Ex.. When levels are 30 mins, break will be after 4 levels... 50 minute levels break will be after 2 levels etc.

Generally speaking do any limit and non-hold'em games go during the week? Some folks are talking about a golf trip up to TS in September on a Tuesday into Wednesday. I know some O8 and Stud games get off in this room. Any reasonable chance of finding something that isn't NLHE on a Tuesday night?

20/40 holdem occasionally runs on Wednesdays. If you are bringing some players I'm sure we could get something started.

Hi Kerby, it was a huge success, thank you!!! Our guests had a great time during the event, a few Poker magazine writers were on hand to compete and we even had a Pro or 2 stop by to play and actually engage in conversation with other guests. The entire 2 week event surpassed last years Empire State Championship in attendance numbers on both the tournament and Live game side. Again, thanks to all for coming out!!!
