Yep, this. If you really can't get over to the borgata (it's near the marina as opposed to the boardwalk) the taj generally spreads a decent variety of games and it's not too far from the trop. Gl!

agreed, if you must stay in the city, go to taj. The games there are especially savory, but the players(bums, scumbags) are a bit to be desired.

Is the trops 1/2 game soft and full of nits shoving on like middle pair top kicker?

Does the pink-chip game run anymore.

Who remembers when the Trop was the second-best room in AC?

What exactly is the definition of nit? I thought a nit would shove with nothing less than TPTK

Most I saw of the Trop recently when I played was me thinking I was bluffing, getting called on occasion, and still having the best hand.

Ah, yes...probably my favorite game of all time. Huge piles of pink chips splashing around 24/7...good times.

I do remember the pre-Borgata (2003) good ol' days...

I also remember up until 2007 or so the typical lineup at Trop on a Saturday would be; 1/2 & 2/5 NLHE, 2/4, 4/8 & Pink Chip LHE, 1-5 (then 3/6) & 5/10 7CS, and sometimes 3/6 O8.

I played the Trop pink chip game in April of 09 on a Saturday.

The word 'nit' has sure changed since then.

Best... Game... Ever!

Hit it's peak back around '98-'00. A few of us played that game every Fri/Sat night for YEARS. It was free money!

Scott just started running the room and really tried to make things great for the players, but the Execs killed almost everything. They even had a "house funded" BBJ.

The 15-30 H/L game was always running and there was almost no NL to be found.

It started slipping, IMO largely because of general Trop mismanagement. Then, when the Borg opened and many/most/all of the dealers moved over, the bottom fell out.

Shame - it was a nice, little intimate room.

i can see where it was once a nice little room, I preferred it to a few of the other rooms on the Boardwalk when i went up there. In the spring they did a $122 10K guarantee which was pretty nice for the 80 people that showed.

This room was GREAT back in the old days. With the no limit room (converted) and the window to the Tiffiny Lounge where one can take a smoke break and watch the babes walk by with live music just outside the room.

When Borgata opened and Quarter built, the room just went south and never recover.

Remember the Friday Tourny 50 with re-buys.

Those days were the easy money...

I really missed the old Trop....

Heck, why not just guarantee 100k with 1000 runners?

Liked the limit games, back in the day, but never thought they ran their tournaments well.

all of their regular tournaments had the same "guarantee" I think a lot of rooms do that if you read the fine print. Out west it's management may cancel the promotion at any time such as 5 minutes before the start.

I was at the Tropicana on Friday night (1/28) for the first time in a long time. I decided to take a jaunt on up there and check out what was going on there. I was talking with the floor manager [name removed] I think her name was. There were about 6 or 7 tables going and she said that this was the busiest it has been all week long. The Trop could really appreciate the business these days but that's true of a lot of the casinos in AC.

I sat at a 1/2 game and it was totally nittish. Maybe it was just this particular table but it was not a good game. I think I ended up dropping $200 being an aggro-tard before I retreated to my room at Bally's.

If the Trop really wanted to bring back customers then they should re-implement their old 10K guaranteed $100 tournies with the one additional add-on. That would bring me back for some tournament action, particularly if they advertised it a little. But otherwise I think that the Tropicana is dead for the most part.

It wasn't just your particular table.
