How much is Harrahs dinner buffet?
the Havana is the newer tower, North tower is the original more classic tower but I prefer the North over Havana (and South over North).

Comps is whatever is available.

OK peeps Thank you. Getting more really nice help than I expected!

To summerize:

Resort fees are a measly $15. The $20 trick is a no-go so dont even think about it and The Trops Buffet is only suited to teenieboppers with undeveloped palets and an ignorance of what good service/staff should resemble. Now, this is not to say there arent good food options, especially when one explores the Quarter.. Super-especially if exploring under the escalator!!! Also, if one were to feel adventurous, he/she could wander to what arguably can be considered the best buffet in Atlantic City that is just a short drive uptown to the Marina where you will find the Harrahs Buffet. While quite pricy ($39.99 ery day), the buffet seems to offer a plethora of wonderful seafood selections as well as a variety of other mouth watering items to please even the most picky of foodies!!

Now when you get tired, dare not be forced to lay your head in the West Tower, but be aggressive and insist on one of your other 3 options in that of The South Tower, The North Tower or even the newest of the bunch, The Havana. It seems tho, while the Havana is new, and the North Tower is the oldest of the few, I have it on good authority that my choice to lay my tired little head is for sure the Tower to the south!!

Jesus Mary & Joseph, that Harrahs bufffet is really expensive tho. I may have to pass

Nice to see this thread getting a little activity!

North tower renovated rooms are actually quite nice if you end up in one of those. Just steer clear of the west tower.

Speaking of buffets, the one at Golden Nugget is actually pretty decent and a small amount of play will get you 2 for 1 coupons for it. Friday is the best day as it includes seafood with snow crab legs! Also, Caesars buffet isn't bad either and 5 hours of poker play at Bally's (sun - thurs) will get you a $15 food voucher that you can use to offset the $40 price.

Any more news on the rumored move of the poker room?

Just seen on Tropicana's twitter page that the buffet is closing for renovations. It will reopen on Memorial Day. The renovations is LONG overdue. I really hope the quality of food greatly improves as well.

FYI I moved some of the more recent buffet discussion to the general AC thread because it's better suited for there as there's lots of good info and room for comparison between all the casinos.

So back to being on topic, does anyone know if the room is really moving or is it staying where it is?

The BBJ was hit at the Trop this evening. K-High SF over quad J's. $41K total. $8K to the SF, $16K to the quads and $2343 to the remaining 7 players. I was one of the lucky 7. The only downside was, it took them over 2.5 hours to get us paid!

I have $100 comp dollars and I have a room booked for April 16th. My comps expire on April 12 lol. I'm calling them when I get out of work today but do you guys think they'd extend the expiration of comps?

Have you ever had something like this happen to you?

Lol I just find it funny how it expires 4 days before I go back. Might have to take a day trip there just to use those comps on a nice dinner or something but I'd rather just go to sands this weekend and use it when i have a room.

Thanks in advance.

Obviously it's worth it to call and ask, but because you asked for opinions my opinion is there's no way they'll extend it for you unless you're a high roller.

I haven't played at the Trop in ages but I have a room at Bally's tomorrow night and I won't be getting in until later so the only tournament options are the Trop or Harrah's and I want to stay near the Boardwalk.

How many people make it out for the 7:15 PM tourney these days?

My idea is to play that, drop back by the room to see the wife before she goes to bed and then play $1/2 as long as I can stay awake at Bally's but is there anything I might want to know about Trop room offers?

I haven't been there in years but if I play the tournament and then play several hours of $1/2 could I expect to get a weekday room offer down the road? I don't get them from CET anymore (the Bally's room is for signing up for the Total Rewards Credit Card, not any play).

-0 runners. Never runs
-room stinks of bo, mold, rotten cheese, the carpet is most likely the cause of this
-don't expect to get a room offer based off 1 day of play.

I said that I wanted to stay on the boardwalk and play a tournament.

They actually have only one table and it filled up. Signed up as an alternate and am playing 1/2 untilI get called.

I wound up going to the Trop when they said on the phone that they expected the tournament to run. I got there about 15 minutes late and discovered that the tournament did run but only one table, they had four alternates and no dealer to open a new table. Get that, the tournament was *too* popular.

I reluctantly became alternate number five and sat down at the $1/2 game with $300 after a small wait for a seat to open up.

It was just like all other $1/2 games you will find, though this table was on the soft side. I won two really big pots, one where I rivered the nut flush and a guy bet into me and I raised $100 and he called without showing what he had. Another one I flopped a set of threes on a board with two diamonds, wound up getting that guy as well as someone else all in on the turn. The river was a diamond that paired the board and my threes-full won both pots from two players who were both on flush draws. Overall I wound up winning $400 which for a nit like me is pretty damn good.

Also I hit a kiosk and have them my email address which gave me $5 in free slot play that I ran up to $50.

The room did indeed have a slight funky smell to it but I wrote that off as it's relatively close proximity to the smoking area.

I was a little miffed when some new dealers came in that they opened two cash games while still having alternates for the tournament. I understand that the cash games mean more to the casino but the alternates for the tournament were waiting a lot longer and had a finite period to get into the game.

I found it interesting that they took alternates with sheets of paper without registering the players, different from every room that I played or worked. I guess they got tired of having to void tournament entries when it took forever to get alternates into the game and they didn't want to play anymore. Doing so well at $1/2 I didn't care that I didn't get into the tourney but I don't ever recall even being called.

The beer selection wasn't that great but I got Maker's Mark for free which was nice. Dealers were competent. Cocktail servers seemed to come by more often than at other places I have been.

I might be biased since I came home with a small chunk of change (minus the $170 of it I lost over at Bally's) but I didn't hate the Trop and would likely play there again especially if I was able to parlay several hours into some room offers, though that seems less likely these days.

Congrats on the win.

I haven't played there in about two years, but I never lacked for cocktails when playing @ Trop. I'd even go as far as saying that their service is excellent if you're throwing an extra buck or two here and there.

New room opened the other night. Very nice. Tables cleaned, new chairs(much like borgata) clean, smells good, and best of all NO FOOD ALLOWED. still a bit loud due to club and bar band. Located next to boogie nights in the far corner. 19 tables. Old room will become slot area and bar. Hopefully they burn the carpet or send it into outer space.
Also new cashier area located across the way.

Damn, guess all those rumors were true! How many tables were in the old room?

And if anyone remembers, way back when, the room behind the sign up desk also had tables in it (its slots now) as well as the old simulcast area. What was the total number of tables back then? (Circa 1999)

that used to be my go-to room back then. good memories! i'm going to guess there were about 25 tables back then. about 12 in the room that was around until just now, another 8 on the side that used to have off track betting and where they ran tourneys and then maybe 5 in the room you're referring to.

After reading this decided to stop by (almost forgot they still had a room!)
Really haven't been by here in years...have to admit the Quarter really gives it Vegas type feel!!!!

New room has
Nice clean new car feel with comfy chairs
Enjoyed a good balance of play at the 1-2 level ...
Not gonna find much else tho only 8 games going on Sat holiday weekend...

Similar to Golden Nugget
You have to go out of the room to buy- cash chips

Not sure why they feel they had to bury it in the corner tho... with only one real way/in out.... Really cuts down the chance of passer's by.....
There is the boogie nite club right there so I guess that will help when open
Should have found a spot closer to the quarter traffic

Is the new room actually in part of the space that was the simulcast years ago, that opens out toward the Boogie Nights entrance? Too bad it's further from the hub of traffic now, the central location was Trop poker's best feature (along with the green wallpaper & dark wood with the King cards, I always liked that atmosphere; the Borgata style is way too cavernous and bright for me).

I was looking to come to the Trop and need to get a comped room. Does anyone know the current requirements and procedures for getting a comped room?

There are no comped rooms available for poker. You can call the poker room to see what your discounted rate would be if you have your player card number.
