Taj Mahal Poker Coming Back? Taj Mahal Poker Coming Back?

03-23-2016 , 08:17 PM
I would have posted this in the old Taj Mahal thread however it is closed.

I just came across two poker-related job listings for the venerable venue:

D/R POKER DEALER/POKER FLOORPERSON
POKER DEALER

When the room closed it was allegedly a "temporary" thing... Is the room finally coming back? Did the renewed interest in online poker in the state with pokerstars launching here last week hasten this? Anyone else know anything?

We'll re-open the thread when the room re-opens. Can use this as the HYPE thread. Also check out the Atlantic City thread in the other subforum, some info has already been divulged there. Maybe someone can re-post here.

I saw a billboard on the way to Atlantic City today that says Taj Mahal poker is coming back and opening May 2016 if I'm not mistaken. I tried searching for more info on the internet but couldn't find anything though .

I heard it's going to be located in the same place but with a considerable amount of tables removed, maybe half the size of what it used to be.

It is also now right on the home page of the website. No official opening date. Just says May 2016.

Wouldn't it be great to lure Frankie back to A.C.

Do you think we should reopen the old thread or make a new thread? I lean toward new thread because I feel like if there's changes in even the configuration and staff of the room, it's not really the same room anymore and we should preserve the old thread for historical purposes. The FAQ would need to be updated and doing so would take away some of the history from the old thread. We could even put the dates that the old room was open in the title of the old thread.

Thoughts, everyone?

Yes frankie would be perfect for AC. everyone loves him. He would draw alot of customers.
I hear rumblings of a total turnover at the Nugget because of employees jumping ship to go back to Taj. We shall see. Cant blame them.

New thread would be appropriate IMO.

Someone insert a picture of Mr. Burns hand-tenting.

I also think a new thread is appropriate, maybe link a "What the Taj used to be" link to the old one.

I hope for good things in Taj Poker Room II.

I applied for every job they had available. I am licensed in NJ and deal PT now in another room and have supervisory experience. I am hopeful to hear something at some point, even if it's so I can remove the job from my horizon.

Has anyone else applied? Gotten a call back?

Fiji water and Geritol for all Some have heard from the former mgr. others haven't, nothing from H.R.

Any chance they will be on bravo? I wonder if they will fight to get the stud crowd back or will just be content to compete with Bally's for the boardwalk 1-2 players.

I'm in AC today. There was a billboard on the turnpike stating the room would open May 2016.

So, I made a quick stop at the Taj to see what's going on with their poker room.

Here's the unofficial scoop:

1. Location will remain the same as the original poker room.

2. The room will start off at about half the size and then potentially expand back to the full room.

3. Ponies won't be there initially but they will be brought back.

4. Planned opening is May 6th.

The proposed open is May 9th give or take a few, the room has a sliding partition and 25 tables is the strong rumor. The staff will be hand selected from the golden crew of the former room by the P.R.M. who made your poker experience a wonderment. A stabbing here, a scam there and throw in some food discontents in the Bad Beat Café up stairs. Can’t wait to see the regulars roll in to score on the promotions and hospitality in Trump style. There is only so much Boardwalk game to go around and Ballys seems to own it!! Another grind another fold Hurry up Red Spade …..

Bravo... Lucky if they have Etch-a-Sketct

Wonder if they will ever bring back the midnight madness tournament. One of my all time favorites

There's nothing like playing poker with prostitutes, homeless people, and a group of 10 or so scumbags who all have a piece of each other's action from midnight until 6:00a on a Tuesday in February and having 100 runners in the tournament. I actually won that tournament once. It was glorious.
