No one ever died from second hand gambling.

I don't mind those, but it's the smokes from ppls smoking inside that bother me, worse off is the fact that those kind of casino start to pump this fake vanilla scent in the air to mask the smell of cigarettes it make the air particulate heavier and really not good for you to breath in for long period of time. As we all know a poker session could go anywhere from a few hours to 20 hours. I try to avoid casino that pump scent in the air, I don't mind it when they just pump pure 02 to make casino patron more alert so we can gamble longer.

I played here for the first time this weekend, coming both Friday and Saturday nights. I was amazed at the action generated at a 1/2 NL table and at the generally atrocious play. If you don't mind variance and can emotionally withstand the angst caused by someone risking their entire stack only to catch their miracle gutshot straight on the river, this is the room where you should want to play.

For those who have been playing here since the room opened, how are the mid-week games? Are they as loose and weak as the weekend games?

Absolutely. I've only played at SH during the week and the player pool I've faced thus far is a complete joke. Shoving second pair on a rainbow board into my overpair, calling my all in with AJo for 200bb. You will become victim to variance like you mentioned but just ride the wave and you'll be printing money soon.

I highly suggest straddling on the button at every opportunity. Just be careful, I've seen AA being l/rr 3 times and QQ l/rr twice.

Good to hear.

It's kind of funny. At a recent game at Harrahs, a reg who plays there opined that the games at Sugarhouse were much "tougher."

After playing at Sugarhouse, I started scratching my head to figure out that comment. Then it dawned on me... A lot of the regs at Harrahs are rocks who like their raises respected and hands decided quickly. Those are not the Sugarhouse games I saw this weekend.

I only played a couple of hours on my first visit, but there did seem to be a lot of shoving at my table based on my time at Harrahs and Borgata over the years. On the other hand, not too many of the plays mentioned above. More like just cooler scenarios. But a lot of action nevertheless. Once I get back from Las Vegas Friday (3-day paid business trip with poker on the side), I will just start playing at SH. I actually like the tent, more than Harrahs room for sure.

Are you able to re-buy at the table?

Does the casino have a bike rack?

There are chip runners who will come to the table.

There is a bike rack, it is one of those crappy ones where you need to put the front wheel over the top and you can't easily lock the back wheel up

Love the room, wish there was a little tunnel connecting the PR and main casino. Obviously wouldnt hinder me from playing here lol, but it would be nice not to have to walk to other casino in freezing weather plus getting carded again.

I don't think this is allowed in PA casinos (even though you used to be able to do so at Harrah's)

It's a good rule. You get more hands per hour that way

Better than nothing. As long as it's in a well lit area with a lot of foot traffic I won't complain too much.

When you do your initial buy in at the cage ask for double the max buy in with half of it in black. Put the black in your pocket and reload as necessary without waiting. Easy game.

Ouch.

I made a very short visit a couple days after they opened. The cage has odd rules about how they can give you chips: I was buying in for $120 and they couldn't give me all red because they couldn't give me less than a barrel of red.

The solution was to give me two $10 chips which seems odd to me (so two $10 chips are okay but four redbirds are not?) plus they seemed to confuse the other players since nobody had $10 chips other than me at that table at that point.

That has since changed. The cage will sell you any denomination you need.

I've never heard of $10 chips. Is that a SugarHouse thing or do other casinos use them? I've been playing at Harrah's and at AC casinos and have never seen or heard of them.

Other casinos use them. I believe Parx uses/used them for their 10/10 NL game and they're a bit more common to see in mid-limit limit games (e.g., 30/60 and 40/80).

Vegas 5/10+ games and LA 10/20+games will regularly use $10 chips as the main chip

I'm pretty sure I've seen blue $10 chips at the Borgata. Not that common though.

You just have to make a decision. Do you like the room enough to put up with the minor inconvenience until the permanent room is built? It seems like, for most people on here, the answer is yes. If you think it's not worth it, find another room.

For me ugly ceilings are a deal breaker. I'll never play there.
Asterix811 - Thank-you for the post. We're thinking of some creative ideas for promotions when it snows! Here's our challenge: The walkway that runs down the side of the casino has to be clear enough for a fire truck to have access. Hence the high overhang and the reason we can't put up a covered walkway. We'll keep looking at ways we can make that area more comfortable.
