lol yeah THAT game.

It got berserk after 2am. At 4am it was one of the most ridiculous games I've ever been in. Nonstop hilarity. Mid pair was winning 800 dollar pots.

I called and asked whoever answered the phone what the rake was and he had no idea what I was talking about. But whomever he asked said that the BBJ $1 was coming soon.

Uhhh...so why don't you play there? Not trying to be a smart ass but if you already have more reasons to, then what's it matter?

I do play at Hararh's. I've been trying to play less at Harrah's and more at SH with an occasional Parx session thrown in. Might even go to DP or AC once in a while now. The goal was to get involved in playing with new faces, not a bunch of regs who I see at Harrah's (even though some are LOLbad). I played twice at SH last week, twice at Harrah's. That would be an ideal split for me. But after Tuesday, when the dealers continue to be just awful, I don't know if it's worth the frustration or not.

I mean, I hear you, but there have only been a few in my experience (about 100 hours over the past month or so). Some of these guys (and girls) are literally dealing their first poker and I've seem them improve since day 1. I'm not sure what the trial period is but my guess is that you'll see some of them disappear sooner than later.

LOL indeed. Even if that actually happened to you, it didn't "cost" you anything.

As a dealer at another local casino and a 3/4 day a week player at Sugar House Ill chime in about the dealers.

Patience people, patience. When Parx opened they had a lot of in house trained dealers that were terrible. Now those same dealers are some of the best in the area.

I'd say you can tell the majority are doing their best to get better day in & day out.

I mean I guess I might have more patience compared to others since Im a dealer myself.

I do have one issue that I hope the floor can tell all the dealers.

When there is a straddle the dealer needs to announce LOUD and CLEARLY where the straddle is and who is first to act. On button straddles people fold out of turn more than 50% still. Even if the dealer announces straddle a lot of people dont realize where action begins.

You can really tell those who are from parx. They are still adjusting to stupid new rules.

One rule really needs to get changed. I will address it with someone with a clue at some point soon. But from what I saw Thursday it is very very easy to angleshoot in any particular hand.

I actually had a dealer make my opponent in a HU show both cards after i folded to his river bet and showed 1....show 1, show all obv.

it was a good fold.

Oh yeah and a diff. dealer actually pushed the whole pot after a chopped pot because his sixth card was better. --- she took it well though and was admittedly very new.

All in all, yes there were many dealer errors in my 1st session there so you Must pay close attention to everything they do but the games were good and I would return.

I was at Harrah's a few weeks ago on a saturday and they had great promos but the desk told me they were over for at least December. I know the food voucher is back but why is Chester that much better than SH iyo?

I am assuming proximity since you mention Parx but don't play there exclusively.

Played a second session last night. While the games are good the dealer issues were really frustrating. I'd like to play in the game, not have to run it. Too many dealers don't understand the simplest of rules. I lost track of how many times there should have been a single big blind but the dealer didn't understand that so just advanced the blinds incorrectly. There were a few really good dealers but the majority still need help. I'm not sure what your post hiring training is like but please continue to help these new dealers improve and learn the game they are dealing.

On another note, I learned last night that at showdown if one player mucks the other has to show their cards to win the pot. This rule sucks. I think Borgata has the same rule and it is one of the worst things about that room. If a player mucks at showdown just ship the pot to the other person. There is no good reason that I can think of to have this rule.

That is a tournament rule that should not apply to cash games

Parx has the same rule and as far as I know Harrahs does as well. You must show your hand to take the pot, unless i am misinterpretating what you are saying.

Some of the little things that have been bothering me are the way comps work. I have no idea how I am suppose to use them. I have over 30hrs logged in but every time I try and use my card I get told that there is nothing on there.

The second thing that bothers me is every time I go to the main casino to use the bathroom I get carded. Even if I say I'm coming from the poker room and sometimes by the same security guard that checked me 30mins prior!

I used my comps once last week at the poker room snack bar. Girl working had to go to the front poker desk and get it straightened out. It was quick, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Re: you have to show your hand to win.

I don't care what other rooms have that rule. It's a terrible rule for cash games. Makes sense in tournament I guess but really is not good for cash. Especially the way some dealers enforce it by making a player show before putting the other hand in the muck.

As for comps, I just went up to the snack bar and handed them my card. If the had any issues before the may be worked out now.

And lastly, having to show your I.D. is not a big deal. I don't know why people complain so much about this. It's their job to make sure you can legally enter the building. Had a conversation with one of the guards about this when I walked in with I.D. in hand. He asked me why everybody can't just do that and has to whine about it. I had no good answer for him. If it bothers you that much see if you can get a band or stamp or something.

I think its to prevent collusion. Player A bets, Player B raises, player C re-raises, player A reluctantly folds. Then it gets to the river and player C is first to act and open mucks. If you are player A and had a decent hand, you wouldn't be happy with this.

granted this doesnt happen much, but I think the rule is there to deter this behavior and make sure B and C aren't playing as a team, which in my above extreme example, seems like they are.

On a side note, if its as easy as it is to have your ID ready and not complain about being carded every 5 minutes, whats the big fuss about showing your winning hand when someone mucks at showdown?
Turn your cards over and take the pot takes way less time then bitching about having to follow the rules and reluctantly showing your cards. Turn your cards over/flash your ID when you know you're gonna get carded and move along without getting tilted by what you perceive is a dumb rule that the house is going to enforce anyways.

Oh relax, I'm just making a joke.

I'm 30 and I get carded at least 6 times per trip going in both directions. It's just part of the casino process. When they get hit with an outrageous 500K fine because they allowed a 20 year old to gamble for a few hours, no one is going to offer to pay it. They could offer a wristband option/stamp but people would find a reason to be annoyed with that too.

The room is good. The action is good. If you're construcively giving bits of advice, that's wonderful but the "you better get coors lite or I'm playing at Horseshoe Baltimore!" are getting ridiculous.

The showdown rule is to prevent collusion, and if you think it doesnt happen enough to justify having the rule, you're wrong. Squeezing is a very prevalent game mechanic that happens way more than people think, and no offense, but a place like Sugarhouse should be no different.

Just get a wristband when you walk in, problem solved....security actually cards me less than othr casinos imo.
