Hey guys,

Do mixed games often run at the Star, or is the poker room just a NLH & PLO zone? If they don't run is that because the room isn't able to (legislation or dealers not trained)? If one of the regs could answer this that would be great.

Do you think we would be able to get a group of people to play mixed games? I certainly would partake.

They used to try spreading NLHE / PLO but stopped running it. Apparently the PLO guys would just walk off when it was the NLHE orbit and the NLHE guys would walk off when it was the PLO orbit. So don't fancy your chances.

I would play as well Smarty.

Played in a great mixed game overseas a couple of weeks back. All limit games at decent stakes and the mix was called THOSE: Triple draw, holdem, omaha 8, stud & stud 8. Was a lot of fun.

From denks reply it sound like this wouldn't stand a chance to run at Star.

A huge LOL at getting anything limit going at star. I don't bother any more but at one point got a decent (read approx 20 long) waiting list for a 10/20 LHE game going and they refused to spread it.

That sounds ordinary. Guess i'll be sticking to home games and single table rooms at some of the clubs around town then.

I would start a shorthanded LHE or THOSE or mixed game. Are there any home games that spread those?

Used to reg an extremely soft 3/3 game in my local city, but may be at Syd late August, roughly how many 3/3 games run around 4pm-late on Wed/Thurs/Fri, and peak/off-peak Saturday? Am I guaranteed to get a game or is it a table they advertise that never happens?

If it's the latter, do 5/5 or 1/2 run through those periods?

All those games run pretty well around the clock. Wait list is often significantly shorter for 3/3 than 1/2 on a busy weekend night

How are the wait lists for the lower stakes games these days?

Back when i used to frequent there it was at least an hour wait when i got there fairly early around 6pm.

New rules, are they good or are they whack?

Spoiler:
The answer is correct answer is whack

The one chip call / not call rule seems to be a gross misunderstanding of the gross misunderstanding of bet size rule.

Wait lists for 1/2 is not too bad these days, rarely get a wait over an hour. 3/3 is very time dependent and 5/5 can be fast or really long depending on time, day and who is playing.

I find 3/3 faster on average than 1/2, particularly on weekend evenings

Is there 1/2 NLHE games running like from 9 to 3 at morning weekdays? Or only in the evening? Are there texas 1/2 running every weekday? Thanks for the answer!!

To the Indian gentleman on my left at the 3/3 table the other night, please don't mention 2+2 at the tables. Fish need to learn how to become more lucky and know how to play the rush or pick a lucky seat, not how to hand read, polarise / merge their ranges, bluff catch and bet for thin value

Was at one of the most +EV tables I've ever been on last night, half the table was calling light down to river, or folding to any decent sized bet. Every single time. I was value-betting the fish the whole evening and slowly worked my way up to a 3BI stack. Smiles all round, saying how lucky I was getting, joining in on the banter, making the old folks comfortable and gritting my teeth when old-mate hits trips on his 10-4o raised pre.

In comes a loud-mouthed punk, starts berating the table for all the bad play. "Why are you calling my 3-bet with A10o" etc. etc.

I'm sure this has been mentioned in thread already, do you guys see this often, even on 3/3? Do you just grin and bear it? Typical Sydney egos.

Hey Guys =)
I will be in Australia for 3 months from new years on.
I`ve been playing for a few years now. I have made several trips to Vegas and played in Korea, Macau and many places in Europe (I am German). So far I am a winning player, but I have never played bigger than 5/10 dollar and never won more than 2 or 3 thousand in a tournament. I am a student and have had a full time job before that, so I never really had the time (or the balls) to focus 100% on poker and actually play 40-50 hours a week.
Since I wont have any real responsibilities (like uni or work) in Australia I see it as an opportunity to put myself to the test. I want to know how good I will actually do, when playing full time.

Is it true, that the Star in Sydney charges an hourly 5 dollars plus 10% of the pot (capped at 10 or 12 dollars). That would be the worst I have ever heard of.
From what I have heard I am mostly interested in playing 3/3 NLHE.

Are the games rather soft at the 1/2, 3/3 and 5/5 tables? Mostly tourists and rich guys who just wanna have a good time? Do they serve free alcohol in OZ casinos like in Vegas (not for me!)? Do you at least get complimentary food and drinks for your time charge?

Is The Crown very different form The Star?

Moreover I will be in Melbourne for the Aussie Millions.
Do they have live satellites for the Main Event at the Crown or is all that only on PokerStars?

I know thats a lot of questions.
I would appreciate your help though =)
Thank you guys.

you can play live satellites into the main event of the AM and they have step 1s (i think thats what they are) running daily. Can't speak for star city but at crown the average player you'll encounter will be quite bad and from what I've heard they're worse at Star City.
