Bump

who is playing what in the Sydney Champs?

I'm a little gun shy after playing 5 mtts in Vegas and just getting smashed up the arse constantly - didn't get above starting stack in any tourney

I will fire a OE bullet on Thurs and may fire again Fri, work permitting.
Monster Stack looks enticing but 30 min levels don't really excite me
Will almost certainly play 6 max and am not sure if I buy in direct to the ME but will prolly fire 3 or 4 satellite bullets.

I'll be jumping in tomorrow for flight 1. Looking to play a few, but aiming to recreate my run last year!

When I was looking over at you and shaking my head about 20 mins into level 1 it was just after I had spun it up to 18k in the first orbit, then got it in on the turn in a 9 way limped pot with 23 on a A495r board and lost to 95 who snap shoved for 13k.

Fk tournaments......Playing the monster stack and maybe turbo. Can't play main

sigh, one more deep run where I miss out on the big money. Even at 2 tables left there was some really bad players around. Has at least covered my Vegas losses, but still not sure I can justify 3k for the ME. Gonna play some satellites this week

Coming down for the opening event for WSOP circuit in Nov/Dec.

Looking to play cash throughout the week I'm there. Is 2/3 unbeatable with the rake? Should I move up to 2/5, 5/5 or is the rake the same?

TIA

There's no 5/5.
2/3 is easily beatable

Rake is the same at 2/5/10, stacks are deeper but players are better. Your choice but both definitely beatable

Everything's beatable (or not) if you're only there for a week.

Christ, why would anybody want to stake a 2/3 player?

why not?

Anybody good enough to beat 2/3 at enough of a clip to make that worthwhile and have a graph that c an prove it over a decent amount of time (min 500) should have enough hours/profit to have their own bankroll already. (And if they're that good and experienced, then they should already be playing 2/5 or looking for staking at 2/5)

If they haven't then they have BRM or life leaks that make them not worthy horses or they don't have enough hours to prove they can beat the stakes

The potential profit from staking somebody at 2/3 - lets say $15 an hour, isn't enough to justify the $$ investment and the risk of getting scammed or the player losing the $$

There are others but those are the main ones.

If I were you, I'd get a job and play on weekends and build your own bankroll

Everything that feel wrath said, plus you might have some wrong ideas about the "2/3 regs". From my limited experience being in the area once or twice year, apart from a couple (at most handful) of guys that play that when no 2/5/10 runs, almost all of these regs are not actually pro or semipro ppls. The money to be made is simply not significant, they are hobbyists, retirees, addicts, want to get away from their wife or w/e, in short the usual microstakes live setup.

There are a number of regs playing 2/3 full time but it's 98% recs, some decent, some terrible. Some regs have moved down from the old 2/5 game. It's soft especially if you table select.

how do you table select? i thought you just joined a waiting list and were randomly assigned a table?

Have you never played live? I way you should be asking for staking, no matter how decent your online results may be

You ask floor to change tables

I've never staked anyone but FWIW my minimum requirements would be knowing them for years, knowing that they're not a degenerate, knowing that they treat their debts extremely seriously, and respecting their abilities at the table over a large, proven and observed sample.

If I met some dude at the tables who then hit me up for a stake, the chance of them getting that stake would be zero.

Because people walk around telling you accurate win rates

Rule of thumb for max. winrate for the top players according to one of the better regs in the room is 10% of max buy-in per hr.....ie. $50/hr@2/3 and $100/hr@ 2/5.

That seems high to me but I wouldn't be surprised if some are achieving something near that.
Star City Hotel & Casino (Sydney, Australia) Quote

That's quite high. It depends on a number of specifics, but a real crusher in a particular live cash game (top 2-3%) can usually make something on the order of 5 to 10 BB/hour, with the higher number being quite rare. Keep in mind 10 BB/h are 40-50 BB/100. At the 2/3 game (or similar microstakes game) it's limited by many people being shortstacked and the rake, at the 2/5/10 you run into many (semi)competent players against whom you cannot make anywhere near these numbers after rake, so you have to make a lot more against the whales to even get close to these stats.
